Patent number: 5628333Abstract: The hair curler includes an outer and an inner sleeve. Both sleeves include passages in their walls. The sleeves can be rotated relative to each other. Accordingly, the passages in the outer sleeve can be opened or shut off. The hair curler includes a hollow flange portion with passages which cannot be closed off and an inlet opening for a feeding of warm air for a treatment of hair wound on the curler. When the passages of the outer sleeve are closed off, warm air will flow merely in an axial direction out of the passages of the flange portion. This state is needed for a slight drying of the hair when producing a permanent wave. When the passages of the outer sleeve are opened, the hair wound therearound are dried after the rinsing thereof by warm air flowing through the passages out of the inner space of the curler and by further warm airstream flowing out of the exit openings of the hollow flange portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Inventor: Jurgen E. Patent number: 5158716Abstract: This invention discloses an atomizer for hairdressing which generates micro-size liquid particles by means of electricity-mechanical power conversion elements as a source of ultrasonic wave. The atomizer for hairdressing of this invention intakes air and forcibly send it into a path made of an elastic member. Then it generates minute-diameter liquid particles from the surface of a stored liquid by means of the vibration of the electricity-mechanical power conversion means. Those liquid particles are heated and inducted into the above-mentioned path. The micro-size liquid particles having a diameter of several .mu.m or less generated by the ultrasonic vibration can be controlled at a predetermined temperature. Moreover, the particles can be blown out independently or with hot or cool air.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1990Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Sanko Electric Machine Manufacturer Co. Patent number: 5025514Abstract: Automatic hair and scalp treatment machines are known which include a bowl, and a closure therefor, adapted to enclose the head with the face outside the closure. Also included are spray manifolds on an oscillating arcuate header, and driving means imparting partial rotation to the arcuate header. It has been found that dermatoses characterized by the formation of skin cells too rapidly to be eliminated, such as psoriasis, can be treated with this apparatus. Without the machine, removal of the dead cells or plaques is both time consuming and messy. In this treatment it is desirable to begin with low pressure sprays, and increase the pressure to the maximum which the patient can tolerate. One form of apparatus which could be used for this purpose is the machine disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 4,834,121. In that prior art device the pressure regulator was a conventional regulator ahead of the header. By this invention an adjustable pressure means is provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1990Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Assignee: IHT, Inc.Inventor: Archie M. Miller

Patent number: 4834121Abstract: Automatic hair shampoo machines were the basis of my U.S. Pat. No. 3,521,647. It overcame the problems associated with prior automatic shampoo machines. One of the imperfections of my earlier hair shampooing apparatus was its washing action. Another one was that during the time the apparatus of U.S. Pat. No. 3,521,647 was in service, it became apparent that the use of liquid tanks or reservoirs imposed limitations on its use. Still another area subject to improvement was a lack of a hair drying apparatus. By improvements herein a hair shampoo machine is provided which can be used unattended. It has an improved washing action, uses no tanks, and incorporates a hair drying apparatus. The washing action has been improved by, among other things, manifolds mounted at definite angles to complement each other. The solution tanks have been eliminated and replaced by a system which injects quantities of hair treating solutions. The hair drying apparatus includes outlets in the bowl or cover of the machine.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1987Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignee: International Health TechnologyInventor: Verna M.
