Abstract: The invention relates to a retractable rod and a tent made from the rod. The retractable rod comprises a multitude of rigid skeleton joints having two axial end surfaces and side surfaces. The joints are connected through the convex-concave connection by two flexible ropes passing through the holes of the joints to form a rod. There is a storage compartment locating at one end of the rod which winds and stores the rod therein. The storage compartment comprises a shaft, a rod storage sleeve which is in an intermittent drive mode fixed to the shaft; one end of the two flexible ropes passes through the rod storage sleeve and is fixed to the shaft. The rod storage sleeve is supported and rotates between two rope-protecting boards. A tension part locates at the other end of the rod and the other end of the two flexible ropes is fixed to the tension part. The top assembly includes a plurality of inverted foldable Y-shaped subframes attached together and to a top of the telescoping scissor frame in a manner that combines the two to form a stable umbrella-like overcenter top frame attached atop the telescoping scissor frame. A drawstring mechanism is attached to a peak of the structure to hold the top frame in an expanded position. Flexible covers are attached to the two frames, and a drawstring arrangement on the top cover allows flaps to be lifted to form 360 degrees of windows.

Abstract: The invention relates to the side covering (7) for a collapsible tent of a light variety, whereby the individual corner posts are each in two parts and comprise an upper (1) and a lower (2) section. Said sections may be telescopically placed one inside the other and may be locked together. The corner posts (1, 2) have grooves (3, 4) in the longitudinal direction, the diameter of which is different for the upper piece (1) and lower piece (2), such that they may be placed one inside the other. Moulded profiles (8, 9) may be placed in the grooves (3, 4), to which the side covering is fixed.

Abstract: A segmented, articulated pole member structure is constructed of a plurality of pivotally interconnected, pole segments. The pole segments are arranged in an alternating or offsetting fashion such that in their disassembled state they may be folded into a compact bundle for storage. In the assembled state, adjacent pole segments are retained under tension in fixed angular position relative to each other by a pivoting connection and an engagement loop or similar structure. Applications for the pole member structure include the construction of flexible structures such as tents and shelters, and support frames for mounting, supporting, or suspending articles in a desired shape.

Abstract: A crutch constructed of two adjacently located, elongated, parallel upper and lower bows which can be moved in relationship to each other to form a vertical support of readily varied length. These bows have the same design and are therefore interchangeable, significantly reducing inventory requirements. Each bow has a series of parallel horizontal notches with the bows positioned so that the notches on each bow are on contacting surfaces. A pin inserted into parallel, adjacent notches on the two bows in cooperation with two or more collars or caps on the ends of one end of each bow fixes the relationship between the shafts which, in turn, defines the length of the vertical support. A similar concept can be used to lock a moveable centrally located lower bow between two parallel outer upper bows. This assemble provides a strong, adjustable length crutch for any height patient using only two different pairs of bow lengths.
