One embodiment of the inventive outdoor studio further comprises a platform, which may include interconnected modular platform sections, for supporting and mounting the frame. The frame itself may comprise a boxlike rectangularly shaped frame, an overarching quonset hut like structure, or any other appropriate frame structure. The scrim material which may he hung over and clamped onto and over the frame, or may be rolled out vertically and horizontally between uprights and eaves of the frame, can also be attached to the frame by strings or snaps.
Abstract: A cabin tent pole system (10) using side poles (14), gable poles (16), corner hubs (18), and roof hubs (20). The corner hubs (18) have two tubular members (50) which join forming a first obtuse angle (32), where a structural web (56) may be provided to help maintain the first obtuse angle (32) and strengthen the corner hub (18). Similarly the roof hubs (20) have tubular members (60) which form second obtuse angles (34) between any pair of the tubular members (60). The roof hubs (20) may include a series of webs (66) which act to maintain the angular relationships of the tubular members (60), including the second obtuse angles (34). Only larger embodiments of the tent pole system (10) require the use of ridge poles (40).
Abstract: A portable clothes storage closet having a compact travel condition in which the closet components are disassembled and, at the point of use, are assembled within the outer fabric cover into an optimum size providing adequate storage space, the assembly within the outer fabric cover permitting a size in the closet outer fabric-support structure that could not readily fit through the opening into the closet. Also, the size of the compartment bounded by the fabric cover is selected to approximate that of the support structure so that the closing of the opening into the closet which is provided in the fabric cover creates a tautness in the fabric cover about the support structure which obviates inadvertent disassembly of the components of the support structure while the closet is in use.
Abstract: A portable, adjustable tent assembly including a frame having first and a second opposite side sections, each having a plurality of individual support members hingedly secured with one another and structured to independently move between an extended and a collapsed orientation. Further, the tent assembly includes a primary and secondary roof panel, constructed of at least one flexible material sheet, and disposed in spanning relation between the primary and secondary horizontal supports of each side section, a front and rear wall panel extend respectively between spaced apart forward support members and spaced apart rear support members, and first and second side wall panels disposed correspondingly between the horizontal support members and the forward, central and rear support members. Each of the various panels being structured to define a corresponding portion of the tent assembly without restricting full collapsibility thereof wherein the fully collapsed opposite side sections generally abut one another.
Abstract: A structural protective shelter designed to be used around and above beds, office chairs, or anywhere an occupant may be sitting, standing, or reclining. It is ideally suited for protective use against structural building collapse resulting from disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, bomb blasts, etc. The shelter is ideally made of steel or like material and is comprised of a rectangular continuously framed base (18) from which rise four, vertical uprights (14), two pair becoming continuous to radiused corners and common overhead horizontal primary members (20). Between and perpendicular to said two overhead primary members is attached two horizontal overhead cross members (10). Between and perpendicular to said two overhead cross members is attached a handle bar grip (12) to be used to help an occupant to maintain position within the shelter during periods of violent movement.
Abstract: A cover supporting shelter structure comprising front and rear sections arranged in back-to-back contraposition each side of a common central junction of which the respective left and right sides of each section comprise identical component parts. In one embodiment the front and rear sections are identical mirror images of each other each side of the common junction and in another embodiment, the respective front and rear sides are pivotally interconnected by rotatable arms on each side for movement of the front section between extended and rear positions relative to the rear section.
Abstract: A portable disassemblable blind for water fowl hunting provides a peripherally defined side frame and a slidably openable top, both supporting peripheral covering. One or more head holes are defined in the inner end of the top to allow one or more hunters to project their heads therethrough for observation. The frame optionally may support one or more seats for support of hunters beneath the head holes. A transverse support maintains guns in a forwardly and upwardly angulated orientation for safety. The openable top is supported by rollers that guide the opening and closing motion of the top on the side frame to insure reliable operability. The first species of blind may be formed without seats and with a low profile for positioning over a pit defined in the earth to provide a concealing cover for hunters therein. A second species of blind provides a semi-rigid plastic covering that is integrally formed with the supporting frame elements to allow manufacture by molding.
Abstract: An improved tent comprising a fabric enclosure having a floor, walls, and a roof, supported by an external, free-standing frame comprising upwardly extending leg poles, roof poles; and yoke connectors having three tubular members for releasably connecting each pole to at least two other poles. The poles have tubular ends which are dimensioned to fit within the tubular members of the yoke connectors. Each yoke connector also has a flange extending between tubular members, with an eye in the flange. The fabric enclosure hangs tautly from the frame through the use of one or more loops, one or more pole sleeves, and connectors releasably engageable with the eyes in the flanges attached to the yoke connectors.
Abstract: A canopy support system to support the canopy portion of a self-contained collapsible canopy type tent. The canopy support system has a plurality of interconnected resilient cord elements extending from a central hub to multiple support frame attachment points around the collapsible metal frame of the tent. The resilient cords are adjustable for required tension and provide intermediate canopy support between a central support pole and the perimeter support frame.
Abstract: A free-standing outdoor enclosure is disclosed. The enclosure includes a frame having a lower section that engages the ground, a side section mounted to and extending upwardly from the lower section and a roof section attached to the side section. The side section includes a plurality of elongate support segments that are arranged about the periphery of the enclosure. The roof section has a like plurality of elongate, flexible support elements interconnected in a radial arrangement. A distal end of each support element is attached to an upper end of respective support segment such that the flexible support elements are flexed into an upwardly arched condition. A flexible skin is mounted to the frame and extends across the side section and the roof section to hold the flexible support elements in the arched condition and define an enclosed space.
Abstract: An internal, self-supporting, tent suppot framework. The collapsible framework includes a number of side and ridge support poles which mount to radially adjustable pole couplers. The couplers retain the support poles at preferred angular orientations in multiple wall planes as a support skeleton for an overlying fabric cover. Each coupler includes a pair of cast sleeves wherein a body piece includes a longitudinal bore, a projecting wing arm and a pair of hinge arms having transverse bores. A horizontal pole couples the hinge arms together in one plane, as a pair of other poles are supported to the longitudinal bores in a second plane at a splay angle established by the wing arms. The wing arms overlap and are retained with a fastener fitted between the arms.
Abstract: A portable steam sauna that provides a framing structure having a plurality of detachable framing members and coupling members wherein each coupling member releasably engages at least two framing members for manually assembling and disassembling the framing structure while utilizing a flexible, light-weight, soft, steamproof enclosure material for forming a steamproof enclosure. The framing structure utilizes light-weight, non-metallic, rigid framing members and coupling members having hollow cylindrical structures. The framing members and coupling members are preferably fabricated from a conventional polyvinyl chloride which will remain comfortable to a user's touch even in elevated temperatures. The releasable engagement between the coupling members and the framing members is a frictional fit to assure the framing structure remains assembled when said steam sauna is in use while also allowing for the manual disassembly and reassembly of the framing structure when the portable steam sauna is not in use.
