Having Protector For Cover At Rib-to-stick Joint Patents (Class 135/33.6)
  • Publication number: 20030221714
Abstract: An umbrella includes an elongate stem, a notch with an insert portion for insertion into a concavity in a top edge wall of the stem, a canopy mounted on a mounting portion of the notch, and a rib assembly pivotally mounted to the mounting portion for supporting the canopy. A tubular runner is slidably sleeved on the stem and is movable between upper and lower positions for spreading and collapsing the canopy. A stretcher assembly is disposed to stretch or retract the rib assembly. The rib assembly can be brought into close proximity of the stem after retraction, thereby resulting in a compact size of the umbrella for convenient storage and carrying.

  • Publication number: 20030015231
Abstract: An umbrella crown includes a crown body having a base plate with a threaded cylindrical projection extending from a first surface of the plate for engaging an inner-threaded cap. A circular groove is defined in the first surface of the base plate and a corresponding rib is formed in the cap whereby the rib can be received in the groove for interposing and securing an edge of a canopy therebetween. A conic projection extends from a second surface of the base plate and has a reduced free end with a bore defined therein to be tightly fit over a central post of the umbrella. A plurality of radially-extending slits is defined in the conic projection with a cross bar formed in each slit. Ribs that support the canopy have J-shaped ends respectively received in the slits and engaging the cross bars for forming pivotal joint between the ribs and the crown. The ribs are maintained in position by the central post. A slot is defined in the conic projection by two opposite side walls.

  • Patent number: 6263891
Abstract: A golf bag umbrella adapted for use in a golf bag for providing optimal protection to items stored within the golf bag, having an extendable and retractable shaft and a collapsible and expandable canopy, underneath which is a flexible material, preferably mesh or netting, for preventing the golf clubs from becoming entangled in the support structure for the umbrella canopy. The golf bag umbrella further includes a handle, providing easy movement between an extended position and a lowered position while the canopy is expanded, such that the golf clubs within the golf bag may be easily accessible without having to remove the golf bag umbrella from the bag. The protective material beneath the canopy functions to prevent entanglement between the golf clubs and the support structure of the canopy, which prevents damage to both the support structure and the golf clubs themselves while also avoiding frustration on the part of the golfer as the golfer attempts to remove golf clubs from within the golf bag.

  • Patent number: 6234185
Abstract: A disposable umbrella wherein the shaft and rib structure are of unitary molded plastic construction. The ribs are joined to a central hub attached to the shaft by a self-hinge having memory which causes the ribs to spring outwardly into a radially extending state when released from a collapsed state.
