Abstract: The pressure of a water supply of a cooling section of a metal processing line is stabilized by supplying the cooling section with water from a water reservoir by a pipeline which is filled with water and providing a pressure container partly filled with air and partly with water. A direct connection is provided for a direct exchange of water between the pressure container and the pipeline. Water is pressed out of the pressure container directly into the pipeline through the provided connection in the event that the water pressure in the pipeline drops.
Abstract: There is provided a drain recovery system with which power for driving a feedwater pump can be reduced and the feedwater pump can be driven at low costs. The drain recovery system includes: a buffer tank; an assist tank disposed below the buffer tank; a first drain supply line that connects a load device and the buffer tank; a second drain supply line that connects the buffer tank and the assist tank; a drain supply valve; a communication line that establishes communication between the assist tank and the buffer tank; a communication valve; a steam supply line that supplies steam from a boiler to the assist tank; a steam supply valve; a feedwater line that supplies drain from the assist tank to the boiler; and a feedwater pump.
Abstract: A fluid system can selectively include an in-line storage tank. The fluid system includes a valve switch system connected to the storage tank. The valve switch system routes fluid from a supply to an intake interface of a consumer premises. The valve switch system is operable to route the fluid in one of multiple different ways. The multiple different ways can include: routing from the supply to the intake interface through the in-line storage tank when the supply provides a pressurized flow of fluid, routing from the supply to the intake interface bypassing the storage tank when the supply provides a pressurized flow of fluid, or routing from the storage tank to the intake interface when the supply provides no or low flow of fluid. When routing from the storage tank, the valve switch system can pressurize the storage tank.
Abstract: A compact device for ejecting a fluid including two chambers separated by a separating element of piston type. One of the chambers contains the fluid intended to be ejected, the other chamber is a pressurization chamber, the pressurization of which can cause translational movement of the separating element and ejection of the fluid. The pressurization chamber includes a thimble capable of sealably separating the inside of the pressurization chamber from the side walls of the reservoir. Thus, a seal between two chambers is perfect and durable without degrading slidability of the piston.

Abstract: A gas purge device for a metallurgical melting vessel includes a conically shaped ceramic body (2) in contact at its top side with heat contained in the melting vessel. The ceramic body has a static external element and an internal element axially movable therein. A pneumatic drive axially moves the internal element to and fro relative to the external element between a closed position and an open position. The spring force of a spring retains the internal element in the closed position. The device furthermore includes a gas-tight enclosed volume arranged at the bottom side of the ceramic body the volume being connected to a gas supply duct for introduction of purge gas. A deformable membrane is connected to the internal element with the pressure difference between the purge gas pressure prevailing in the gas-tight enclosed volume and the ambient pressure acting upon the membrane.
Abstract: A steam condensate recovery component particularly useful for pressurized deaerator units, the recovery component being a vertical extension pipe of thermally conductive material connected to a system air vent and extending into the atmosphere. The extension pipe includes a thermally controlled steam trap at the distal end of the extension pipe for blocking escape of steam and allowing return of recovered condensate to the deaerator unit.
Abstract: A laser knife which supplies water to a rod member applying laser radiation to tissue or the like by means of using the air supply passing air between a fiber optic laser transmitting member and a hollow tube. Air issuing from the tube may be bled to the atmosphere through a bleed valve. Closure of the bleed valve pressurizes an annular space in flow communication with the upper portion of a fluid supply tank. Pressurization of the tank forces fluid from the tank into an annular space within the device through orifices in flow communication with grooves adjacent the rod member. In such a manner, the pressurization of the air supply system causes fluid to flow over the rod member to prevent adherence of tissue and the like to the end of the rod transmitting the laser radiation.
