Automotive Patents (Class 137/351)
  • Patent number: 3956999
Abstract: An earthworking implement such as a tractor-drawn chisel plow having a fertilizer tank is provided with an automatically operated control system for fluid dispensing when the implement is work configured. In one embodiment the implement is provided with a rockshaft for moving implement wheels between a wheels up, implement working position and a wheels down, implement transport position. An interconnector cable is wrapped at one end around the rockshaft. As the rockshaft turns and rotates the wheels into the implement working position, the cable pulls the valve stem of a fluid metering valve partially out of the valve, thereby opening the valve and permitting fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 3955648
Abstract: A lubrication fitting having a unique fluid flow control device mounted in an opening to prevent flow of fluid therethrough at all times except when specifically actuated to permit fluid flow therethrough. Upon actuation, the fluid flow control device automatically permits flow of lubricant into a reservoir, while at the same time automatically prevents flow of fluid out of a reservoir unless additionally actuated specifically for the purpose of withdrawing fluid from the reservoir. The fitting has a closure plug that has external threads that threadably engage the internal threads in a recess in the fitting. The recess in the fitting communicates with a passage in the fitting to form a continuous passage through the fitting for a lubricant being forced into a reservoir. The fluid flow control device is constructed so as to provide an essentially leak-free junction with the dispensing source of lubricant and may include a magnet to attract and remove ferrous metal particles from the lubricant.

  • Patent number: 3954250
Abstract: A two position drain valve or cock is installed permanently in the threaded drain plug opening of an automotive crankcase. The spherical rotary valve element is operated by a crank arm arranged exteriorly of the valve casing on a valve actuating rotary shaft. The crank arm is shifted between valve open and valve closed positions by a push-pull cable assembly including a manual lever pivoted to a mounting bracket which is installed under the hood of an automobile at a conveniently accessible location. Detent means is provided to lock the manual lever in a valve closed position. The shipping package containing the apparatus in kit form may be utilized to receive the dirty oil.

  • Patent number: 3948481
Abstract: A screw-type draincock assembly in which separate body and stem parts are each integral elements and in which the body part provides an external seat and the stem part provides a transverse handle. The valve assembly is preferably formed by initially arranging a head portion of the valve stem to pass through the threaded bore and external seat of the body and, subsequent to assembly of the stem in the body, plastically flaring the head portion to a configuration adapted to seal the external body seat.
