Abstract: A valve suitable for a fuel tank may include a valve housing having a housing part, and a float configured for closing a vent opening, the float being movably arranged inside the valve housing along a middle longitudinal axis running in an axial direction upward or downward. A lower section of the float faces away from the vent opening and faces toward the housing part of the valve housing. At least one spring element is at least partially arranged in or on the housing part and/or is at least partially formed by the housing part. The spring element contacts the float at least when the float moves downward in the valve housing.

  • Patent number: 7882823
Abstract: A double shut-off refueling valve responds to a full fuel tank level by closing the recirculation line and the canister line. The valve includes at least one float having one or more sealing surfaces corresponding with the recirculation line and the canister line, respectively. The sealing surface is on the top of a float in the float valve. When the fuel in the tank reaches a full level, the float moves upward to close the recirculation line and the canister line substantially simultaneously. In one embodiment, the valve is a float valve having a coaxial seal where the two valve openings corresponding to the recirculation line and the canister line are arranged concentrically. In other embodiments, the sealing surfaces can be, for example, a ribbon seal, two separate sealing surfaces, or any other seal configuration that corresponds with the orientation of the recirculation line and the canister line within the fuel system.

Abstract: A sewer pipe gas exhaust filter apparatus includes a sewer vent valve unit connected to a sewer pipe and including a valve member moved into and out of engagement with a valve seat by a float member, a gas filter unit connected to the sewer vent valve unit and including a gas filter medium, and a gas flow valve arrangement to cause gases from the sewer to flow through the filter medium while bypassing air drawn into the sewer pipe past the gas filter unit. The filter medium of the gas filter unit removes chemical components from air and gas exhausted from the sewer pipe, thereby improving the odor of such exhausted gases.

  • Patent number: 7789104
Abstract: An automatically activated backflow prevention device for water closets or toilets is provided having a substantially cylindrical support member terminating in one end in a cam shaped end for mating with a hinged flapper valve having a parabolic shaped or upwardly curving upper surface and correspondingly shaped sealing member disposed therebetween for mating with the cam shaped end of the substantially cylindrical support member. An elastomeric hinge member is provided for connecting the closure member or flapper valve to the substantially cylindrical support member so that when closed the flapper valve or closure member conforms to the confronting cam shaped end of the cylindrical support member with the sealing member disposed therebetween. A backflow water pressure responsive assist member is optionally provided on the lower surface of the closure member to assist in the closure of the closure member in response to backflow water pressure from waste pipes.

  • Patent number: 7597114
Abstract: A venting device including one or more seals, one or more floats, and a cap is provided. The one or more seals and the one or more floats are encapsulated by the cap. The venting device further includes a passage, which allows intake and exhaust of air from a driveline component. The one or more floats are capable of moving from a first position to a second position in the passage. The one or more seals close the passage when the one or more floats are at the second position, thereby restricting intake of water in the driveline component.

  • Patent number: 7584766
Abstract: An overfill prevention valve for mounting on the filling inlet of a liquid storage tank has an elongated, tubular valve body provided with an inlet at one end and one or more outlets in the sidewall thereof. A pressure-actuated piston is moveable between an open position spaced below an annular valve seat between the inlet and outlets and a closed position engaging the valve seat to close the outlet. An orifice in the top of the piston communicates with an actuating chamber on the opposite side of the piston so that a measure of piloting liquid flows into the chamber and out a pilot hole at the bottom of the valve body during normal filling operations. A buoyant float is slidable along a hollow guide tube attached to the bottom of valve body and communicates with the pilot port for closing a discharge hole in the guide tube when the float rises to an upwardly buoyed position due to the liquid in the tank reaching a predetermined maximum level.

  • Patent number: 7412987
Abstract: An expansion tank to be connected to a pipe system filled or with a liquid is disclosed. The expansion tank includes at least one connection opening for a liquid pipe. The tank has a main valve to close off the connection opening at a defined difference in pressure between the interior of the tank and the connection opening and/or at a defined liquid level in the tank. The tank also has an additional valve for closing off a channel extending through the closure member of the main valve from the interior of the tank to the connection opening. The additional valve is closed during normal operation of the expansion tank and is open if the difference in pressure between the interior of the tank and the connection opening is higher than the original pressure in the expansion tank.

  • Patent number: 7306004
Abstract: The invention provides a device for the metered passage of a liquid, comprising a container for the liquid, which is provided with an inlet and an outlet for supplying liquid to and discharging liquid from the container, respectively, and with a bottom and upright side walls joining said bottom. The device furthermore comprises means for regulating the extent to which liquid is supplied to the container via the inlet in dependence on the amount of liquid that is present in the container. The metering means comprise a floating element which floats on the liquid in the container and which is rigidly connected to an overflow edge that can move up and down together with the floating element between a lowermost position and an uppermost position, over which overflow edge the liquid flows into the container at the location of the inlet. The overflow edge forms part of at least one side wall of the container.

  • Patent number: 7059342
Abstract: An automatic liquid shut-off system for a vessel and having a valve in a liquid passageway to control the level of liquid in the vessel so as to prevent an overflow of the liquid. The shut-off system comprises a conduit extending exterior from one wall of the vessel and in liquid communication therewith. A float is disposed in the conduit, and a stem extends from the float co-axially with the conduit, and is affixed to the valve to actuate the valve to a closed position. When the liquid level in the vessel rises to an undesired level, and the liquid in the vessel therefore reaches a level approximately the level of the float, the liquid acting upon the float will actuate the valve to a closed position, thereby shutting off the liquid.

A float and a rocker arm are used to raise and lower the disc of the lift valve in response to a water level inside the housing. The valve seat has a first vertical axis and the water inlet has a second vertical axis and the first and second vertical axes are parallel to each other and are spaced apart a distance corresponding substantially to a radius of the valve seat. In another feature, a stud on the rocker arm interferes with the valve stem when the float is in a down position, for leaning the valve stem away from the axes of the valve seat and of the water inlet.
