Abstract: This disclosure provides apparatus and methods for watering livestock using a livestock waterer, a water source, and a waterer valve system for replenishing water in a water reservoir of the livestock waterer. A valve housing can be affixed to the water reservoir and coupled to a plunger. A cam can be pivotably coupled to the valve housing and one end of a float arm. A float component can be coupled to the opposite end of the float arm. Water from the water supply can enter the valve housing and exit an orifice in the valve housing along first and second side spouts. The float component can have a generally flat bottom and move vertically along with the water level within the water reservoir. As the float component moves vertically, the float arm pivots the cam. The cam can move the plunger in the valve housing to stop water flow.

  • Patent number: 9452942
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating water including a tank having an inlet and outlet and a water treatment material or resin within the tank. A control valve assembly having multiple, separable levels houses a water usage metering mechanism and a regeneration control mechanism, each having associated turbines. An inlet/bypass valve communicates source water with the tank inlet or directly to a system outlet. When the treatment material is exhausted, it is regenerated by actuating the bypass valve to communicate the source water with the system outlet. The turbine driven regeneration control then sequences the steps of regeneration, including opening a control valve to communicate inlet water to a venturi in order to aspirate brine solution and deliver to the tank outlet. The brine solution passes through the treatment material and is discharged through the tank inlet which is communicated to a system drain.

  • Patent number: 6123099
Abstract: A liquid level control apparatus for a flush tank includes an upstanding fill tube integral at its upper end with a valve housing carrying a flexible resilient pinch tube valve member. The valve housing defines a conduit which communicates with a downwardly extending tube parallel to the fill tube. A float has portions respectively receiving the fill tube and the downwardly extending tube therethrough so that the float slides vertically along the tubes as the water level in the tank varies. In one embodiment, an actuator rib on the float fits in a slot in the housing to directly engage the pinch tube valve member, and in another embodiment an actuator pivots on the housing and is coupled by linkage to the float. In the one embodiment an arresting flange on a resilient portion of the float engages an arresting flange on the fill tube for arresting upward movement of the float until the tank is full to provide a snap-action shutoff of the valve.

  • Patent number: 6076546
Abstract: A valve assembly is provided that prevents overfilling of vessels, such as tanks used to hold liquified gas, beyond a predetermined maximum level. Preferably, the valve assembly is for use with an LP tank attached at the bottom of a service valve thereof. The valve assembly has a valve member controlled for shifting by a float assembly that rises and falls with the fluid level in the tank. The float assembly keeps the valve member removed from the flow of fluid through the valve housing during tank filling operations in a chamber of a diverter member until the maximum fill level is approached when the float assembly allows the valve member to begin to shift into a blocking position projecting from the diverter member restricting flow into the tank and eventually cutting it off when the maximum fill level is attained.

  • Patent number: 6006779
Abstract: A fluid cutoff system for preventing fluid flow through a hose whenever a desired amount of fluid has been deposited onto an area is comprised of a tube having a valve therein. An accumulator has a float floatably disposed therein with an extension attached to the float. The extension interacts with the valve such that whenever the float is in a relatively low position the extension holds the valve in an open position and whenever the float is in a relatively high position--corresponding to fluid being deposited in the accumulator--the extension disengages from the valve and the valve closes and prevents water flow through the tube.
