  • Patent number: 8763419
Abstract: A motor-operated valve configured to control the flow rate during a normal flow and pass the fluid so as to minimize pressure loss during a reverse flow, and a refrigeration cycle using the same, are provided. It is configured such that during a normal flow, the fluid is made to flow only from between the main valve member and the orifice to perform flow rate control, and during a reverse flow, all or a majority of the fluid is made to flow to a bypass channel without being passed through the orifice to decrease pressure loss as much as possible. A check valve member which closes the bypass channel during a normal flow and opens it during a reverse flow is provided in the valve main body.

  • Patent number: 8579251
Abstract: The invention relates to a solenoid valve, particularly for controlling the brake pressure of a wheel brake of a slip-controllable hydraulic brake system of a motor vehicle. In known solenoid valves, there is a first hydraulically effective connection of an armature chamber of the solenoid valve to an outlet through the guide of a tappet in a valve insert. The first hydraulically effective connection ends in the form of a blind hole and thus does not permit flushing out gas bubbles which possibly have accumulated in the armature chamber. In order to solve this problem, the invention proposes a second hydraulically effective connection which is arranged away from the guide of the tappet, uncoupled from the first hydraulically effective connection. Thus, a closed pressure medium path is effected within a valve cartridge of the solenoid valve, the closed pressure medium path making possible an effective flushing of the armature chamber and thus a flushing out of gas bubbles.

  • Patent number: 8424567
Abstract: A valve operable to control flow between two adjacent pipe sections and having a system for relieving pressure from an enclosed cavity within the valve. The valve includes a first pressure port, a second pressure port, and a seal. When the valve is closed, the first pressure port is in fluid communication with one pipe section and the second pressure port in fluid communication with the enclosed cavity. The seal isolates the second pressure port from the first pressure port when fluid pressure within the enclosed cavity is less than a pre-selected valve and is displaceable to enable fluid communication between the second pressure port and the first pressure port when fluid pressure in the enclosed cavity is equal to or greater than the pre-selected value.

  • Patent number: 6871666
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a bi-directional dual chamber orifice fitting comprising a body with a chamber in fluid communication with a flow bore. The fitting also comprises an orifice supported by an orifice plate carrier that is selectably disposable in the bore. In the preferred embodiment, the lower chamber includes two passageways connecting the chamber to the flow bore. One passageway is located on either side of the orifice plate. Each passageway may also be equipped with a check valve to permit flow in only one direction through the passageway. In operation, the passageway on the upstream side of the orifice would allow fluid to flow into the lower chamber while the passageway on the downstream side would prevent flow back into the flow bore.

  • Publication number: 20030014011
Abstract: A pump system includes a pump control module and a cassette with a tube including an anti-siphon valve. A valve operates to control free flow situations, and the valve further has a bypass for priming of the system. The valve includes a bypass mechanism including at least one activation member, such as a button, which moves a movable member for disrupting the seal member of the anti-siphon valve. An alternative valve includes a separate bypass pathway around the anti-siphon valve. In this embodiment, operation of the bypass pathway does not disturb or disrupt the seal of the anti-siphon valve. Operation of the alternative bypass pathway is through a bypass mechanism including a button for movement or disruption of a bypass seal. A cap or other holder opens the bypass for each of the valves for gravity priming.

  • Patent number: 6481452
Abstract: The invention is a two-stage, two-poppet prime valve assembly for use in high pressure applications such as vehicle braking systems. The valve assembly has two valve seats and two plungers for allowing the valve assembly to open under high pressure while providing minimal internal flow restrictions to enhance cold temperature and low pressure operation. The two-stage, two poppet valve assembly contains two separate flow paths, one being high pressure, relatively low flow called a stage one, and the other being relatively low pressure, high flow called a stage two. In addition, the valve incorporates a reverse flow bypass feature that is capable of controlling flow at very high pressure and allowing reverse flow with a very low pressure drop.

  • Patent number: 6289930
Abstract: A refrigerant expansion valve for an air conditioning system is combined with a solenoid-actuated closure device in a common housing. The housing provides for placement of the solenoid valve in a position to shut off fluid flow across the expansion device, with a plunger being placed to come into sealing contact with a piston bore of the expander or with a sealing surface defined in the housing proximate to the piston. Shutting off flow across the expander prevents loss of pressure differential during “off” portions of an operating cycle, thus providing a saving of energy costs.
