Valve- Or Closure-operated By Coupling Motion Patents (Class 137/614.05)
  • Patent number: 6283151
Abstract: A coupling includes a male half and a female half, where the female half has a fitting rigidly fixed to a stationary member such as an agricultural tractor. The male half can be coupled within the female half. When the male and female halves are coupled together, a valve assembly in the female half allows fluid flow through the coupling. When the male half is pulled out of the female half, the male half automatically disconnects from the female half. When the male half is removed, the valve assembly closes to prevent fluid flow through the coupling. The male half also automatically disconnects when the fluid pressure in the fluid system increases above a predetermined amount. In either case, a coupler body within the fitting moves against a centering spring to allow the male half to be removed from the female half. The selection of an appropriate centering spring determines the breakaway and overpressure release force.

  • Patent number: 6279874
Abstract: A coupling for connecting hoses to a medium under pressure includes a female part having a nipple release mechanism and at least one ball-type nipple locking member for initially locking a nipple in place within the female part, an axially displaceable valve member centrally located and movable in the female part from a closed position in contact with an annular valve seat and an open position away from the valve seat, a nipple insertable in the female part and having a groove in an outer surface region thereof adapted to initially engage the ball-type nipple locking member for locking the nipple in place in the female part upon insertion.

  • Patent number: 6269840
Abstract: A valve in valve assembly. The assembly comprises a housing having an internal passage, a valve body in the housing and movably operable to control process fluid flow through the passage, and a chamber in the valve body. The chamber is open to the passage at a first chamber end. A valve core in the chamber controls service fluid flow the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6192934
Abstract: A vapor recovery breakaway hose coupling for use in conjunction with a vapor recovery nozzle and for application within a fuel line, that prevents untimely decoupling, that incorporates a secondary seal that is located between the fuel and vapor passages to maintain clean o-ring sealing and sliding surfaces by preventing fuel and/or contaminates from contracting the primary fuel to vapor o-ring when the valve is in a non-emergency situation, an interference bump is incorporated which imparts a shock to the fuel check valve during separation and unbalanced check valve springs that maintains a static seal to reduce o-ring fretting, and primary fuel to vapor o-ring relocation.
