Abstract: Devices for controlling movement of aerial buckets via hydraulic systems. Each hydraulic system has valves that control movement of the aerial bucket. A control head of the device has a joystick that is moveable and encoders that detect movement of the joystick. A valve actuator manifold of the device is coupled between the control head and the hydraulic system and supports valve actuators moveably coupled to the valves. Servo drive systems supported by the valve actuator manifold are coupled to the valve actuators and are controllable to move the valve actuators. A processor module of the device is in communication with the encoders and the servo drive systems. The processor module controls the servo drive systems based on input from the encoders such that moving the joystick controls movement of the aerial bucket.

Abstract: A cartridge of a water supply valve that controls the flow rate and temperature of water without causing interference between flow rate control operation and temperature control operation of the valve. In the cartridge, a flow rate control knob (12) angularly moves forwards and rearwards and actuates a control lever (14) to open or close cold and hot water supply holes (1a and 1b). A temperature control knob (13) is coupled to the flow rate control knob (12), linearly moves leftwards and rightwards, and actuates the control lever (14) to control the opening ratios of the water supply holes. Thus, this cartridge does not change the existing temperature of water during flow rate control operation or change the existing flow rate of water during temperature control operation. This invention reduces the quantity of water to be unnecessarily wasted and, at the same time, prevents undesirable consumption of excessive energy.

Abstract: A joystick for manually operating a pair of hydraulic valve members has a bracket to which a handle is attached. A pivot shaft rotationally extends between a pair of legs of the bracket and has a transverse aperture through which a pivot pin attaches the pivot shaft to a base of the joystick. This attachment structure allows the bracket to pivot with respect to the base about two orthogonal axes. A first link for coupling to one hydraulic valve member is pivotally attached to the pivot shaft, while a second link for coupling to another hydraulic valve member is attached by a ball joint to the bracket.

  • Patent number: 6546957
Abstract: A joystick controller is provided in a hydraulic circuit having a pair of hydraulic actuators and oriented with respect to the operator so that movement of a control lever of the joystick controller relative to a reference axis oriented perpendicular to the operator results in control signals being generated and delivered to the first and second main control valves so that the respective cylinders are moved in a direction that is intuitive to the operator. For example, forward movement of the control lever results in both hydraulic actuators moving in the same forward or downward direction and movement of the control lever rearwardly results in both actuators moving in the rearward or upward direction. Likewise, movement of the control lever along an axis that is oriented forty five degrees from the reference axis results in control of one of the actuators independent of the other one.

  • Patent number: 6499205
Abstract: A method of converting a control set from an identifiable first control pattern configuration to an identifiable second control pattern configuration. The method provides a pair of control assemblies that may be easily rotated from a first position to a second position to accomplish the conversion. Each of the control assemblies include a respective control lever, rocker assembly, and linkage rods. After rotation of the control assemblies, the control levers are interchanged and connected to the opposite control assembly to establish an ergonomic position for the control levers. The method of converting the control set is completed without the need for additional components or complex modifications.

  • Patent number: 6477914
Abstract: A pilot valve control for the drive motors of an excavator utilizes four pilot valves, each of which has a linear actuable plunger. A control body having a cam type member is mounted on a universal swiveling connection so that in a centered position none of the plungers are moved to actuate the respective valves, but upon tilting of the control body the plungers are actuated. A motion alarm actuator is connected to the control body and is associated with a normally closed switch so that in a centered position of the control body the normally closed switch is held open, but when the control body moves to any one of its positions actuating a pilot valve, the switch, which forms an alarm switch, moves to its normally closed position.

  • Patent number: 6389922
Abstract: A drive linkage that is used for controlling valves for the drive motors of an implement or machine, such as an excavator, has a pair of links that can be loaded in tension and compression by manually moving operating levers. The links in turn actuate a cam that tilts a swiveling disk to operate a pilot valve assembly normally used for a joystick control. The links are connected so that the pilot valve can selectively operate motors for driving opposite tracks on sides of the implement in either forward and reverse direction, and wherein motors for both sides can be operated in a forward direction and in a rearward direction. Additionally, each of the drive motors can be controlled so the motor for one side drives in forward direction and simultaneously the motor for the other side drives in reverse direction. A control disk for moving the plungers is operated through a cam plate that is in turn moved by moving the links.

  • Patent number: 6220276
Abstract: A control valve assembly for a heavy vehicle provides a symmetrical design that minimizes costs and provides a universal adaptation to a number of OEM configurations. The valve assembly can be used with different design platforms since symmetrical surfaces allow the valve body to be oriented as desired. Symmetrical mounting openings, alternate actuating lever mounting arrangements, and preselected angled orientation of the valve ports provide for the use of low-cost fittings that are useful in a wide variety of OEM configurations.
