Having Fluid Actuator Patents (Class 137/869)
  • Patent number: 4425940
Abstract: A pressure control system for use in vehicle emissions control includes an air control valve (12) having a housing (14) defining an inlet (16) communicated to the vehicle air pump and a pair of outlets (18, 20). A primary valve assembly (22) controls communication between the inlet (16) and the outlets (18, 20) and includes a pair of valve members (54, 56) actuated by a differential pressure responsive diaphragm assembly (39). The pressure differential across the diaphragm assembly (39) is controlled by a pressure signal generated from a pressure tap (84) from the inlet (16). A pair of solenoid valves (88, 92) controls communication to the diaphragm assembly and to a pressure responsive relief valve assembly (60) which controls communication between the inlet (16) and an atmospheric vent (78).

  • Patent number: 4367764
Abstract: An air by-pass valve (1) has an air inlet (5), an air outlet (7), a relief port (11), and a relief valve (37) responsive to excessive air pressure for opening the relief port and dumping air to atmosphere. The relief valve comprises a valve member (39) mounted on a stem (23) and movable relative thereto. One side of the valve member is acted on by a spring (41) biasing the valve member to close the relief port. Air pressure acts on the opposite side of the valve member to move the valve member against the spring and open the relief port. The side of the valve member against which the spring acts is contoured so the spring force is unevenly applied to the valve member over the surface on which the spring acts.

  • Patent number: 4345623
Abstract: A multiport valve for a dust-collection system has a pair of axially spaced seats for two of the ports which can be selectively engaged by a valve member in the form of two oppositely convex shells adapted to bear against one another at their edges. In addition, the shells can be separated so that each engages one of the seats. The actuator for the valve member or plate comprises two telescoping members which can be collectively or individually shifted in the axial direction. These members may be connected by swivel joints to the valve plate.

  • Patent number: 4328835
Abstract: A valve for automatically dumping a load of solids entrained within a fluid transport medium in response to flow interruption is disclosed. The automatic dump valve is particularly well-suited for use in combination with a nodule transport riser in deep ocean mining operations. The automatic dump valve system is combined with a tubular conduit defining a longitudinally extending flow passage having a sidewall opening defining a dump port. The automatic dump valve assembly includes a movable dump port cover plate and a hydraulic actuator coupled to the cover plate. The hydraulic actuator is operably responsive to pressure changes within the flow passage relative to the pressure exerted by a surrounding body of water to open and close the dump port.

  • Patent number: 4295490
Abstract: A milking apparatus is disclosed for automatically providing the appropriate amount of vacuum for purposes of milking a cow throughout the entire milking operation. The milking apparatus includes a fluid control valve system having a controller unit and a discharge valve in fluid communication with a collection jar. The controller unit is further adapted for communication with a source of vacuum, and the collection jar is adapted to be in communication with the cow such that the vacuum can draw milk from the cow into the collection jar. The discharge valve is further adapted for communication with a source of vacuum for drawing the milk through the discharge valve.

  • Patent number: 4289167
Abstract: The disclosed delivery system delivers a supply of fluid under pressure through a plurality of outlet lines simultaneously at desired intervals. The system enables controlled, intermittent fluid flow without drippage, as needed in the application of dampening fluid to the ink roll or offset plate on the plate cylinder of an offset printing press or in the application of solvent in a blanket cylinder washing system. A single valve provides fluid flow control by utilizing a single piston to simultaneously open and close all flow lines.

  • Patent number: 4269229
Abstract: A valve module is provided which finds particular utility in a domestic solar water heater system. The solar water heater system includes a collector, a storage tank, and a circulating pump. The system also includes a solid state electronic control module which automatically stops the circulating pump when the temperature of the water in the collector drops below the temperature of the water in the storage system, so that water is circulated through the system only when solar heat is available to heat the water to a temperature above the temperature of the water already stored in the storage tank. The valve module, upon a signal from the control module, causes the water to drain out of the collector when the temperature of the water in the collector falls to freezing temperatures so as to prevent damage to the collector.

  • Patent number: 4267972
Abstract: A gated irrigation pipe is operated by a pneumatic control system which automatically opens and closes the gates. Each gate is slidable along the pipe surface and is coupled to a pair of parallel air conduits extending longitudinally along the pipe. The conduits are connected midway between their ends to a common movable pneumatic cylinder which receives therein a piston fixed to the exterior of the pipe. The conduits communicate with opposite ends of the cylinder, and serve as both an air line to the cylinder and an operating linkage which opens and closes the gates and which will not cause damage to the gates in response to differentials of expansion and contraction. A plurality of pipes thus equipped are serially connected to form an irrigation pipeline and the air conduits are interconnected at the pipe joints by flexible hose couplings which may be preset any time during each watering interval.

  • Patent number: 4183397
Abstract: An air conditioning device for an automobile vehicle includes the provision for automatic proportional control of the air conditioning function and also a priority function such as vehicle windscreen demisting or defrosting. Economy of pneumatic power is achieved by providing, with a double threshold control system, a signal for operating pneumatic flow distributors in the driving fluid lines to pneumatic jacks driving the control elements of the air conditioning device by means of an electrical signal which is capable of being either continuous or discontinuous in which latter state the flow distributor to which the discontinuous signal is applied is caused to oscillate to achieve an intermediate pneumatic pressure between pressure values corresponding to fully open and fully closed positions of the air conditioning control elements to be manipulated.

  • Patent number: 4080991
Abstract: A control valve for use in conjunction with the control system of water powered field irrigation equipment has a valve housing provided with an inlet opening, an outlet opening, and a flow passage connecting the inlet and outlet openings. The flow path is selectively blocked and unblocked by a valve element actuated by a pilot valve controlled remotely by an operator of the equipment in order to determine the direction of rotation of a drive motor which propels a portion of the equipment about a pivot axis as a function of the position of other portions of the equipment. A fluid actuated motor provided with an eccentrically mounted output cam permits control of the time the end unit of the equipment, which unit controls the operation of other units disposed between the end unit and the pivot axis, is on and off in order to obtain a continuous speed control of the equipment.
