  • Patent number: 11517336
Abstract: An insertable device is designed to control uterine hemorrhaging after birth by facilitating contractile movement of the uterus. An insertable device comprises a tube having a connecting portion and a suction portion and a seal positioned along the length of the connecting portion proximal to the suction portion. Upon insertion of the suction portion and seal into the uterus, the seal abuts a vaginal canal and forms a seal between a vaginal opening and the uterus. The suction portion comprises a first loop having an opening that is oriented away from an interior wall of the uterus when inserted into the uterus. The connecting portion of the tube couples to a pump that when actuated generates a negative pressure within the uterus, resulting in a uniform mechanical stimulus to the uterine wall in order to facilitate tamponade and contractile movement of the tissue.

Abstract: A thermal pack (10) for therapeutic treatment of a mammal that includes a bladder (12, 4) and a separator element insert (22). The bladder (12, 14) is formed of a pair of superposed sheets (12, 14) of flexible, heat conductive liquid impermeable polyurethane material and includes an inlet (18) and an outlet (20). The sheets (12, 14) are welded together at a central spine (17) and along a series of branches (16) so as to provide a turning, tortuous fluid passageway therein. The separator element insert (22) is received within the fluid passageway and provides a fluid conveying track that extends throughout the fluid passageway from the inlet (18) to the outlet (19) to maintain the sheets (12, 14) in spaced apart relationship to mitigate restrictions in fluid flow when the pack (10) is flexed out of the plane of the sheets (12, 14).

Abstract: A cable holding element configured for attachment to either an angled frame having internal corners, or external corners or both. The cable holding element includes a base body and rows of latching projections that project from the base body to define at least one channel area for holding cable. The latching projections each have a first section and a second section. The first section and the second section form an acute angle towards the base body. A first row of latching projections opposes a second row of latching projections. The opposing latching projections cooperate to interlock without contact, in a comb-like manner to hold cable within the cable holding element and to form guiding structure that guides cable into and out from the channel area. In an alternate embodiment, the cable holding element has a flat base body capable of attachment to a planar surface.

The anisotropic fabric is formed from combining a number of more rigid, monofilament fill strands and a number of less rigid multifilament warp strands. The fill strands may be formed from a single filament of at least five hundred fifty (550) denier while the warp strands may be formed from a series of polyester threads of at least two hundred (200) denier. The anisotropic layer permits limited rotation of the inner wires relative to the outer sheath when exposed to friction and pressure and is not subjected to significant creep during use.
