  • Patent number: 10717122
Abstract: Tube forming methods can be used for efficient transition in the production of tubes having varying thickness. Material used to form consecutive tubes may have the same thickness along a separation plane separating a first discrete section from a second discrete section of the material, and the first discrete section and the second discrete section may each have varying thickness in a feed direction of the material. With such a thickness profile, the first discrete section of the material may be formed into a first cylinder having varying thickness and separated from the second discrete portion as the second discrete section is formed into a second cylinder having varying thickness. In particular, the transition between the first cylinder and the second cylinder may be achieved without scrap and/or interruption, resulting in cost-savings and improvements in production throughput associated with forming tubes having varying thickness.

When the hose is pressurized by a fluid source, the internal pressure of the hose overcomes the retracting force of the biasing element and the hose extends. When the fluid source is turned off or disconnected from the hose, internal pressure is reduced and the biasing element exerts a tension force on the hose causing the hose to retract.

  • Patent number: 9481112
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a cylindrical master mold assembly having a cylindrical patterned component with a first diameter and a sacrificial casting component with a second diameter. The component with the smaller radius may be co-axially inserted into the interior of the component with the larger radius. Patterned features may be formed on the interior surface of the cylindrical patterned component that faces the sacrificial casting component. The sacrificial casting component may be removed once a cast polymer has been cured to allow the polymer to be released. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 9446681
Abstract: A battery pack and method of cooling a battery pack. In one form, the battery pack is an assembly made up of numerous battery cells arranged within numerous modules. Cooling channels that receive cooling fluid from a ducted supply are placed between adjacent cells or cooling plates within each of the modules. The ducted supply includes beads or related area-increasing undulations that are designed to improve both the stiffness of the ducting as well as the uniformity of the flow rates of individual cooling channels within each of the modules. In one form, the pressure-enhancing beads are placed in an inlet portion of the ducting that is adjacent a forward portion of one or more of the sequentially-encountered modules in order to promote a more equitable distribution of the cooling fluid between the various cooling channels within each of the modules.

  • Patent number: 9273806
Abstract: An elongate metallic or polymeric or composite tape is disclosed along with a method of manufacturing such tape. The tape is of a type suitable for forming at least one helically wound layer of interlocked windings in a flexible pipe body for transporting production fluids. The tape is configured for interlocking of adjacent windings in the layer of tape by nesting a hooked region of a winding in a valley region of an adjacent winding. The tape comprises first and second elongate tape elements arranged in contacting relation.

  • Patent number: 9234609
Abstract: An abrasion-resistant braided hose (1) having an abrasion-resistant layer (4) located between an inner hose (2) and a braiding covering (3). The abrasion-resistant layer is preferably a strip of TeflonĀ® helically or spirally wrapped around the inner hose to allow for flexibility. The abrasion-resistant layer reduces the amount of friction between the inner hose and the braided covering, thereby reducing the likelihood of the inner hose rupturing and failing.

  • Patent number: 9230712
Abstract: Flexible plastic hose comprising a flexible wall made out of a plurality of laterally connected windings of a helically wound profile, wherein the windings of the profile are attached to each other by means of a weld, wherein the profile comprises a web part with predetermined properties for providing flexibility to the hose, and wherein the profile ends on both sides in an upright part. The weld is located between the upright part of the adjacent windings and together with these upright parts forms a helical reinforcement rib on the flexible wall of the hose with predetermined properties for providing hub strength to the hose.

  • Patent number: 9182057
Abstract: A retractable elastic pressure hose 30, comprising an inlet connector 22, an outlet connector 28, an inner elastic tube 34, and an outer cover 36. Outer cover 36 is designed to expand and contract radially and longitudinally in response to internal pressure and external tensions on the hose. Internal pressure within the hose tends to extend the elastic pressure hose against the retracting force of the inner elastic tube. Outer cover 36 can have a hollow circular braid structure similar to the cover on a bungee cord and is designed to stretch beyond its fully extended length by applying external tension on the elastic pressure hose.

  • Patent number: 9103470
Abstract: The invention describes a device and method for making corrugated products. The device can be used with any substrate and includes, at least, first and second drive rollers for driving a middle substrate and a single wall corrugated product. In other embodiments the invention includes upper drive rollers, lower drive rollers and middle drive rollers for driving an upper substrate, a lower substrate and a middle substrate. The middle substrate is driven between the upper and lower substrates at a higher velocity to form flutes that are anchored between the upper an lower substrates thereby forming a corrugated product. The invention also provides for customized corrugated products having multiple fluted substrates in various desirable arrangements. Examples of such products include mattresses, partition panels, other furniture, construction products such as tubes or pipes previously made from metals or concrete.

  • Patent number: 9038671
Abstract: An integral hose anti-collapse rib comprises a unitary body having a first cantilevered portion curved in a first direction. This first cantilevered portion defines a first end. A second cantilevered portion is curved in a direction opposite the direction of the first cantilevered portion, in a direction facing the first cantilevered portion. The second cantilevered portion also defines a second end disposed at an opposite extent of the rib from the first end. The hose anti-collapse rib also comprises a locking mechanism that locks the first end of the rib to the second end of the rib, such that the first and second cantilevered portions together form a generally circular shape. However, in a relaxed state in which the locking mechanism is not engaged, the rib preferably defines a non-circular, generally spiral shape.

  • Patent number: 9022076
Abstract: A self-actuated linearly retractable and extendible hose for use in transporting fluids (liquids, gases, solid particles, and combinations of these) between a source location and an output location can be implemented as an extendible hose comprising a biasing element, a sealing layer, and a reinforced cover layer. The sealing layer forms a sealed conduit for transporting the fluids, and the reinforced cover layer on the outside provides radial and longitudinal strength for the sealing layer. The hose can be operated by increasing internal pressure within the hose relative to ambient pressure.
