  • Patent number: 11234543
Abstract: A drinking straw device includes a molded elastic sheet having a curved base portion, a first bent portion, and a second bent portion. The first and second bent portions are disposed at two opposite sides of the curved base portion to permit an inward surface of the first bent portion to overlap an outward surface of the second bent portion. The first and second bent portions are respectively imparted with an inward biasing force and an outward biasing force so as to bring the inward surface of the first bent portion and the outward surface of the second bent portion into frictional and abutting engagement with each other to thereby allow the molded elastic sheet to constitute a straw tube extending along a tube axis.

  • Patent number: 10357910
Abstract: A thermoplastics injection molding process coats a field joint of a pipeline by positioning a mold tool around the field joint to define a mold cavity. Thermoplastics material injected into the mold cavity forms a field joint coating that will set in the mold cavity. As the thermoplastics material shrinks in the mold cavity while the field joint coating sets, compacting pressure is applied radially inwardly within the mold cavity against a radially outer side of the field joint coating. A compacting fluid introduced into the mold cavity between the mold tool and the field joint coating may be used to apply pressure against the field joint coating. This accelerates and controls cooling of the field joint coating while maximizing quality.

  • Patent number: 10323711
Abstract: The disclosed inventive concept provides a crushable air duct having formed thereon a series of strategically positioned and patterned crack-initiating grooves. The grooves allow the air duct to be crushed in an impact event and a specified impact force, thereby protecting adjacent and higher cost under hood components from damage. In an impact event, the series of grooves allows the cracks in the air duct to readily propagate throughout the pattern in a controlled and predictable manner. The crushable air duct is formed from a rigid polymerized material. The duct includes an inlet and an outlet. The grooves are formed on either or both the exterior surface and the interior surface of the duct. Some of the grooves extend generally between the inlet and the outlet. These grooves are preferably parallel. Other grooves are circumferentially formed around the duct. At least some of the parallel and circumferential grooves intersect.

  • Patent number: 9815254
Abstract: A hose assembly, preferably a garden hose assembly, including a fabric jacketed tube that is lightweight, durable and versatile. The tube is radially expandable when pressurized by a fluid, such as water, but does not increase in length. The two layer construction of the hose assembly allows for storage in relatively compact spaces, similar flow rates, approximately one-half the weight, and improved maneuverability when compared to conventional hose constructions. In one embodiment the jacket is formed around the tube in a continuous process that welds a fabric, preferably using hot air, into the jacket. The welded joint forms a region of jacket that is preferably about twice the thickness of the rest of the jacket. Abstract: A lining material obtained by rolling a lining material sheet into a tubular form is installed in a conduit with both ends of the lining material sheet in its circumferential direction circumferentially overlapping each other. In this process, the lining material is installed so that, in a bending portion of a conduit, an overlapping portion where the both ends of the lining material sheet overlap each other faces toward an outer curvature side of the bending portion. Then, the diameter of the lining material installed in the conduit is expanded with the both ends of the lining material sheet circumferentially slid on each other. This facilitates inflation of a portion of the lining material which portion faces toward the outer curvature side in the bending portion, thereby decreasing a gap between the lining material and an inner surface of the bending portion.

Abstract: A tubular liner for rehabilitating sewers includes a circumferentially expandable reinforcing layer impregnated with a light-curable reactive resin, and an outer tubular film surrounding the reinforcing layer and formed of a radially expandable material impermeable to UV light, in particular a liquid-tight and gas-tight plastic film. The tubular liner can be pulled into a sewer to be rehabilitated and can be expanded, in particular by using compressed air, so that the reinforcing layer and the outer tubular film contact the inner wall of the sewer before the reactive resin is cured. A protective tube made of a tear-resistant material is disposed around the outer tubular film and has a connecting portion extending in the longitudinal direction of the outer tubular film and being expandable in the circumferential direction by introducing compressed air into the tubular liner.

Abstract: A protective guide has a long shape and internally holds long members including at least one of flexible cables and ducts. The protective guide includes a flexible curved strip-shaped base and a plurality of flexible sectioning members. The base is made of a synthetic resin, formed into a long plate and has a longitudinal direction. The sectioning members are also made of a synthetic resin, permitted to uprise from both ends of the base and spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction, the both ends being opposed to each other in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The sectioning members cooperatively define a space for accommodating the long members along the base. The base has a cross section inwardly curved toward the space, as viewed in the longitudinal direction.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic cable and a method for manufacturing the cable. The cable includes an outer jacket that defines a fiber passage and first and second reinforcing member passages, an optical fiber ribbon, and reinforcing members. The method includes extruding the jacket, feeding the ribbon into the fiber passage, and feeding the reinforcing members into the reinforcing member passages. The jacket has a width and a thickness. The width is longer than the thickness. The reinforcing member passages are positioned on opposite sides of the fiber passage. The reinforcing members are paid-off from a single spool by paying-off a precursor reinforcing member from the spool. The precursor reinforcing member can be divided (e.g., by using a slitter) into the reinforcing members which are then fed into the reinforcing member passages.

Abstract: Ringed tubular sheath comprising two open shells (33, 37), termed the outer (33) and inner (37) shells, both of the same diameter (D), one of which, the outer shell (33), has an opening (E1) smaller than the diameter (D) so as to engage by elastic deformation over the inner shell (37) in a closed position. In the course of this engagement, the opening (E1) of the outer shell (33) becomes stretched until it passes a point corresponding to the diameter (D) of the inner shell (37) and, beyond this point, returns to the unstretched position. In the invention, the two shells (33, 37) are connected to a hinge (17) so as to engage by pivoting about the hinge (17), the opening (E1) of the outer shell (33), which is smaller than the diameter (D), extending from the hinge (17) to an opposite edge (34) of the shell.
