Patent number: 4971152Abstract: The process involves creating an internal lining in a bore, e.g., for repairing well casings. A plurality of layers of resilient strip material having an adhesive material, in uncured condition and interspersed between overlapping surfaces of the strip material and between the outer surface thereof and the bore, are applied in spiral fashion by means of a mandrel to the portion of the bore to be lined. Pressure is then applied to the internal surface of the liner to force the liner against the inner surface of the bore, preferably by inflation of a packer or packer assembly whose length is substantially the length of the liner, until the adhesive is cured. The mandrel for creating the liner in a bore includes a portion adapted to receive the spirally-wrapped strip material, a packer at the upper end of the wrappable portion of the mandrel and a packer terminating at the lower end of the wrappable portion of the mandrel and extending therebelow.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1989Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Nu-Bore SystemsInventors: Charles H. Patent number: 4342612Abstract: The invention provides a hose that withstands a vacuum which is considered to be approximately two to three times greater than the vacuum withstood by the best known previously available pliable convoluted semirigid plastic hoses of comparable designs. To fabricate the hose, a bobbin of wire stock is unwound, with the wire preferably being pulled off the end of the bobbin. While the pulled wire is still substantially extended, it is taken up by being rolled upon the plastic hose, thereby snapping the preset formed wire spiral into the spiral convolutions formed in the surface of the hose. If desired, the spiral or coil might be pulled off the end of the samller diameter spool to impart a twist thereto.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1979Date of Patent: August 3, 1982Assignee: Titeflex CorporationInventors: James M. Patent number: 4216803Abstract: A puncture sealing apparatus for handing a fluid such as aircraft fuel, and a method for manufacturing a puncture sealing apparatus for handling a fluid. A metallic tubular member is provided which defines a chamber for the fluid; the metallic tubular member being constructed of a material which tends to deform outwardly upon a projectile exiting the chamber. A layer of puncture sealing material is disposed in covering relation to the metallic tubular member. An overwrap of filament material is wound directly onto the metallic tubular member in a predetermined winding pattern, and at a predetermined wrap tension, and the coating of puncture sealing material is disposed in covering relationship to the overwrapped metallic tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Assignee: Martin Marietta CorporationInventor: Charles A. Patent number: 4214612Abstract: A composite tubular assembly comprising a membrane for membrane filtration fixed to the inner side of a tube of non woven material, consisting of a wound band of a sealable fibres containing non woven material, which may be helically or non helically wound, consecutive overlapping windings of the band being completely interconnected by ultrasonic heatsealing and thereby forming a smooth inner wall of the tube.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1975Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Assignee: Wavin B.V.Inventor: Warren J. de Putter

Patent number: 4213486Abstract: Steel pipe is provided with an external protective coating by first applying a corrosion protective coating of fused powdered epoxy resin adhered to the pipe, then applying (e.g. as by wrapping a sheet) an outer polyolefin layer directly onto the corrosion protective coating. The outer sheet of polyolefin is provided with a pressure-sensitive adhesive or a hot melt adhesive which adhesive may also be reactive with the epoxy coating (e.g. one having free carboxyl group such as ethylene acrylic acid copolymer). The polyolefin is preferably polyethylene or polypropylene and most preferably polyethylene. Either high or low density polyolefin may be used.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1978Date of Patent: July 22, 1980Assignee: The Kendall CompanyInventors: Carlos M. Samour, Earl G. Jackson, Samuel J. Patent number: 4196031Abstract: The invention provides a hose that withstands a vacuum which is considered to be approximately two to three times greater than the vacuum withstood by the best known previously available pliable convoluted semirigid plastic hoses of comparable designs. To fabricate the hose, a bobbin of wire stock is unwound, with the wire preferably being pulled off the end of the bobbin. The wire is then looped around a spool to form it into a spiral or coil having a preset diameter which is proportionately smaller than the diameter of a preformed, semirigid convoluted plastic hose. While the pulled wire is still substantially extended, it is taken up by being rolled upon the plastic hose, thereby snapping the preset formed wire spiral into the spiral convolutions formed in the surface of the hose. If desired, the spiral or coil might be pulled off the end of the smaller diameter spool to impart a twist thereto.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1978Date of Patent: April 1, 1980Assignee: Titeflex CorporationInventors: James M. Patent number: 4192697Abstract: A method for forming an adherent protective coating on articles, particularly pipes for burial in the ground where they will be subject to corrosion, which comprises wrapping a hot impregnated fabric strip spirally around the article, the said fabric, which is preferably of glass fibre, being impregnated with a hot, molten adhesive, e.g. coal tar or bitumen and forming a sheathing of a plastics material bonded to the impregnated fabric, preferably by winding a strip of polyvinyl chloride sheet over the wrapped article.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1978Date of Patent: March 11, 1980Assignee: Winn & Coales (Denso) LimitedInventors: William D.
