Cutting Mechanism Patents (Class 139/263)
  • Patent number: 11486066
Abstract: A weaving loom for weaving a multilayer fabric with weft insertion mechanism (90) and main heddles moved by a Jacquard main shedding mechanism for guiding main warp yarns (12) and defining a main harness width (W11). According to the invention, the weaving loom includes auxiliary heddles (21) moved by an auxiliary shedding mechanism, for guiding auxiliary warp yarns (22) and defining a clamping area (W21) arranged within the main harness width (W11). At a first pick, the auxiliary heddles are configured for closing the auxiliary shed of auxiliary warp yarns for clamping an inserted weft (100) while the main shed is still open.

  • Patent number: 6213159
Abstract: A sharpening device for the cutting knife (12) of a face-to-face weaving machine, comprising a belt-shaped sharpening means (4) of a flexible material provided with a sharpening face that is so disposable that the cutting knife (12) during its back and forth going movements comes into contact with this sharpening face, and that is movable in order to bring various areas of the sharpening face within reach of the cutting knife (12). The sharpening means (4) can be unwound from a reel (7) and be wound up by another reel (3) in order to bring several areas of the sharpening face within reach of the cutting knife (12). The two reels (3), (7) and the belt-shaped sharpening means (4) can be made as a detachable unit. The sharpening means (4) preferably runs with the sharpening part over an elastically disposed curved surface (9).

  • Patent number: 5669424
Abstract: A combined weft thread clamp and cutter apparatus for an air jet loom includes a cutter (3) for cutting a weft thread (1) and a clamp (4) for clamping the weft thread (1). The cutter includes a fixed cutter element (10) and a movable cutter element (9) that is movable relative to the fixed cutter element. The clamp includes a first clamp element (14) and a second clamp element (13). The clamp (13, 14) and the cutter (9, 10) are arranged next to each other, and a spacing distance (8) between the clamp (13, 14) and the cutter (9, 10) is adjustable. The clamping surface of at least one of the clamp elements (13, 14) can be an elastically yielding surface.

  • Patent number: 4934415
Abstract: A tubular cop exchange arrangement comprises a cop magazine, a cop pressing device for pressing a cop from the magazine into a trough chamber of a shuttle, a cutting device for separating a weft thread from the ejected remaining portion of the cop and a control device. The shuttle has a clamping device provided near one end of a trough chamber for fixing the holding pin of a tubular cop, the shuttle having a thread brake and a thread inserting slot extending from another end of the trough chamber substantially rectilinearly. The cop ejecting device has a cop ejecting plunger which is upwardly extendable in a shuttle cop exchange position in a direction toward the holding pin clamped in the clamping device. The cop pressing device has a cop pressing plunger which is extendable in the cop exchange position downwardly against a cop located in the cop outlet opening of the cop magazine.

  • Patent number: 4834147
Abstract: A scissors mechanism for cutting the weft thread in a shuttleless loom performs an excess stroke to bring the scissors mechanism, which is combined with a clamping mechanism, as close to the weft thread insertion gripper as possible in order to reduce weft thread waste. For this purpose, the fixed scissors blade is tiltable between a working position and a rest position in a plane extending substantially perpendicularly to the weft thread insertion direction. The movable scissors blade cooperates with a clamping arm for clamping the weft thread just prior to its cutting. For this purpose the movable scissors blade carries a clamping jaw next to its cutting edge and the clamping jaw cooperates with a clamping plate attached to a clamping arm coaxially mounted with the movable scissors blade.

  • Patent number: 3951179
Abstract: The anvil element and severing element are mounted so that the cutting edge or the thread supporting surface or both can adjust to the other during a severing operation. To this end, one or the other or both elements are pivotally mounted on their respective levers. In addition, a power storage means in the form of a spring or compressed air tank is connected to one or the other or both elements to absorb the force of impact of the severing element on the anvil element.
