  • Patent number: 6817384
Abstract: In an improved method of weaving straw decorative ribbons by plastic tapes, the plastic tape is used as the warp or weft, and a nylon string as the weft or warp to weave a piece of cloth by the square weaving method of a weaving machine, such that the plastic tape and nylon are weaved with each other in a predetermined distance apart, and the plastic tapes are weaved and leaned against each other like a piece of cloth, and the side proximate to the weaved position is cut such that each plastic weaved unit has a weaved section and a tassel section, and both sides of the weaved section are stitched to fix the plastic tape and to prevent the edge of the cloth from drawing out. The present invention accomplishes the fast manufacturing of decorative ribbons for all kinds of articles, simulates the man-made straw umbrella by using plant materials, and provides a way for mass production and effectively lowers the cost.

  • Patent number: 4299645
Abstract: A method is provided for assembling a fabric material, such as woven cane, in a channel which surrounds an opening in an article of furniture, and which eliminates the usual manual edge trimming operation. The method includes the steps of cutting the fabric material into a component having a predetermined outline which conforms in an oversized relationship to the outline of the channel in the article of furniture, applying indicia to the component at at least two predetermined locations which are specifically located with respect to the outline of the associated channel of the article of furniture, placing the fabric component to overlie the opening in the article of furniture while utilizing the indicia to accurately orient the component with respect to the opening, and then forcing the peripheral edge of the component into the channel.

  • Patent number: 4188983
Abstract: A system for making woven articles and kits from which woven articles may be manufactured using the woven construction system are disclosed. The woven construction system includes the use of at least two spaced shaping bands which are interconnected by a plurality of vertical struts which are received within aligned holes in each of the shaping bands. The skeletal structure thus produced by the shaping bands and vertical struts can then be woven by an elongated weaving strip to produce a finished tubular woven construction. Several kits are disclosed which may be assembled into finished woven articles by persons not generally skilled in making woven objects without the use of additional jigs or fixtures.
