  • Patent number: 5551493
Abstract: An apparatus dispenses flowable material from a source and includes a dispensing nozzle that reciprocates along an axis. A metering assembly includes a metering cylinder, a metering element reciprocally movable in the interior of the metering cylinder and a switching valve to switch the metering assembly between a metering mode wherein material flows into the metering cylinder and thereby displaces the metering element and a discharge mode. A metering element drive moves the metering element into the metering cylinder during the discharge mode to displace material thereby to dispense material through dispensing nozzle. A lift bracket is mounted for common equidistant movement with the metering element, and the dispensing nozzle is interconnected to the lift bracket for equidistant movement in one direction.

  • Patent number: 5333660
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for self-service dispensing of purified water with enhanced efficiency and safety. Personal injury and property damage caused by inadvertent impact of the movable dispensing spout is prevented by use of an adjustable slip clutch connected to the spout drive motor. Additionally, intermittent delivery of small quantities of purified water i.e. "topping off", is achieved without a motorized pump through manual tapping of an accumulator tank of variable storage capacity, containing a pressurized internal bladder. When emptied, the accumulator tank activates a motorized pump to provide for refilling the tank.

  • Patent number: 5213140
Abstract: A drum is filled with two liquids of different densities which are immiscible when combined, such as white phosphorus and water. The drum is positioned on a scale beneath a fill pipe. An actuator lowers the fill pipe into the drum. A quantity of water is injected, followed by a quantity of white phosphorus, followed by a quantity of water to rinse the fill pipe. The fill pipe is raised just out of the liquids and allowed to drip, and then is fully raised to enable the filled drum to be replaced by an empty drum. • Patent number: 5193593
Abstract: A valve is provided for filling containers which eliminates splashing and dripping. As the container is being filled, the valve is moved upwardly so as to be a set distance above the level of the contents of the container during filling. In addition, the liquid passes through an anti-splash screen as it exits the valve. In a further feature, associated with the screen are one or more suction units which operate at the cessation of liquid flow from the valve to remove liquid from the screen and preventing dripping. The combination of the valve moving upwardly during container filling, a screen, and suction units associated with the screen function to prevent splashing during filling and dripping after filling.

  • Patent number: 5063978
Abstract: The centering nozzles of continuously orbiting material-supplying valves in a filling machine wherein cans, bottles or other types of containers are moved into register with and advance with the valves in the course of the filling operation are biased toward the material-receiving portions of registering containers by mechanical springs or by pneumatic cylinder and piston units in order to ensure that the nozzles can yield when necessary so as to preserve the integrity of the valves and/or of the containers. The springs and/or the cylinder and piston units are interposed between the nozzles and the assemblies which serve to raise and lower the nozzles relative to the containers below them.
