  • Patent number: 6474379
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically planing a flitch. The method of the invention comprises measuring the distance between the top and bottom surfaces of the flitch at a plurality of longitudinally spaced locations, calculating a planing operation of the flitch based upon the plurality of distance measurements; and then planing the flitch according to the calculation. In a preferred embodiment, the measurements are taken by a bank of photodetectors in combination with a computer (microprocessor). The calculation is done by the microprocessor.

  • Patent number: 6378580
Abstract: A jig apparatus that allows one to cut arches in a work piece quickly and efficiently. It is comprised of a bar that has sliding adjustable clamps that secure a cable which go around pulleys on a router or other cutting device that when the cable is pulled taut, creates a path for the router or other cutting device to follow while it cuts thus cutting an arch into the work piece. Prior to this apparatus one would have to cut this arch with a template which had been previously tooled. This jig apparatus creates a template and cut all in one step.

  • Patent number: 6374879
Abstract: A coping machine for making miter cuts on baseboard or crown molding stock includes a work platform supported on vertically movable spring assemblies. Stock to be cut is positioned on the work platform. A rotating cutting knife is disposed adjacent a rear edge of the work platform. Operation of a single lever mechanism functions to move the platform in a downward vertical direction so that the stock may be cut by the rotating cutting knife. The spring assemblies automatically return the platform to its original position when the single lever is released.

  • Patent number: 6330492
Abstract: A programmable furniture texturing robotic system includes a programmable multiaxis robot fixed to a support frame and a table fixed to a support frame such that they form an integrated unit and the programmable multiaxis robot has a furniture texturing tool unit attached to the end of the robot arm. The furniture texturing tool unit is attachable to and detachable from the arm of the robot and is either a furniture chattering tool unit or a furniture distressing multitool turret. The furniture chattering tool unit has a circular saw blade which produces surface chatter marks when it is dragged across the surface of a furniture part. The furniture distressing tool unit has a plurality of furniture distressing tools, each of which produce a plurality of furniture distress marks including simulated wood rot, worm holes, hatchet marks, rock marks, wood split marks, crooked vein lines, and cigarette burn marks.

  • Patent number: 6289952
Abstract: A pin router arm for attachment to a router table, and a mechanism that attaches to a plunge router to conveniently and accurately move the router body relative to the router base in order to adjust the position of a router bit in the router relative to the router table. Substantial excursions in router bit position are made by moving a handle up or down using a handle or a foot pedal, and small excursions are made using a micro-adjust mechanism that has a detent set screw and cooperating structure to facilitate adjustment of the micro-adjust mechanism by very small predetermined increments. The pin router arm can hold interchangeable sizes of guide pins and is easily and quickly mounted on and removable from the router table.
