Patent number: 9618224Abstract: An HVAC controller and/or server may be programmed to determine if ventilation of a building is desired based, at least in part, on the one or more user-specified air quality thresholds stored in a memory, and one or more of a measure of indoor air quality and a measure of outdoor air quality. The air quality parameter threshold may relate to an air quality index, an air pollutant concentration, a smog alert, a pollen count, a dew point, a chance of precipitation, and/or the like. In addition, the HVAC controller and/or server may take into account current or future weather conditions when determining the ventilation needs of a building. Upon determining that ventilation is needed or recommended, the HVAC controller may send or display a message to the user. The message may recommendation that the user open a window or operate a ventilation system, as desired.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2013Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 9382670Abstract: A guide box for a rail loading and unloading machine. The guide box guides a rail from a ground location toward a drive unit and can be provided with actuators to enable steering of the rail. The guide box includes a base roller that underlies a rail path through the guide box. An arm extends upwardly along each side of the rail path and carries a guide roller. The arms are pivotable toward one another to abut the guide rollers over the rail path and thereby capture the rail between the guide rollers and the base roller or away from one another to enable insertion of a rail therebetween. The guide rollers are vertically pivotable to enable obstructions on the rail to pass through the guide box.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2014Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: HERZOG RAILROAD SERVICES, INC.Inventors: Stanley M. Publication number: 20040216808Abstract: The log positioning and conveying apparatus is used for conveying a log from an upstream end to a downstream end, and for positioning a log according to a predetermined downstream position. The apparatus comprises an open frame and a number of powered conveying rollers arranged therein in a row. These rollers, in addition to being rotatable, are displaceable in two directions relative to the open frame, namely, in a vertical direction for correcting the position of the log vertically relative to the open frame, and in a horizontal direction transversal to the longitudinal axis of the conveying apparatus, for correcting the position of the log transversely relative to the longitudinal axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2003Publication date: November 4, 2004Inventors: Rene Achard, Robert Gauthier, Jean-Pierre Perreault, Eddy Ste-Croix

Patent number: 6666246Abstract: An automated planer machine for planing a piece of lumber. The planer machine has a feed table for slidably receiving the bottom surface of the piece of lumber along a traveling course. One or more planing heads extend on sides of the traveling course to plane the surfaces of the piece of lumber. A linebar laterally guides the piece of lumber. Feed rolls along the traveling course move the piece of lumber. Positioning devices responsive to respective control signals are provided for adjusting a height of the feed table and planing levels of the planing heads as much when the planer machine is idle as during operation. Position encoders coupled to the feed table and the planing heads produce positional signals usable to accurately position them using the positioning devices.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2002Date of Patent: December 23, 2003Assignee: Les Produits Gilbert, Inc.Inventor: Sylvain Gilbert

Patent number: 6247511Abstract: A rotatable roll is provided under a planing cylinder rotating at a fixed position. A front feed unit and a rear feed unit having an upper and a lower roll for gripping the plate are provided upstream and downstream of the planing cylinder with respect to the feed direction of the plate. A front movable body and a rear movable body having an upper and a lower roll for gripping the plate member are provided between the planing cylinder and the front feed unit and between the planing cylinder and the rear feed unit. The upper and lower rolls of the front and rear movable bodies are forcibly moved up and down. The plate member is supported at three points and deflected downward to prevent floating of the plate during cutting and to prevent the formation of depressions in the plate near its front and rear ends during cutting.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1999Date of Patent: June 19, 2001Assignees: Taihei Machinery Works, Ltd., Meinan Machinery Works, Inc.Inventors: Koji Maeda, Kazuhiro Otani, Tomio Izumi, Junji Tsuji, Katsuji Hasegawa, Tsuyoshi Fukui, Kenichi Hiraiwa

Patent number: 6216756Abstract: A log processing apparatus is disclosed for processing a log with tapered sides, the log processing apparatus including a frame assembly, and infeed guide assembly including upstream and downstream pairs of guides configured to grip and center the tapered log along a travel path. The log processing apparatus may also include a saw assembly positioned adjacent the guides and configured to cut the tapered log in a cutting plane perpendicular to the travel path.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Inventor: Howard Carl Mason
