Abstract: The present invention relates to a workbench apparatus for routing and shaping work pieces. The workbench includes a top comprising two opposed faces with a motor support structure associated with one face for holding a motor configured to receive one of a router element and a shaping element. The top is pivotally associated with a top support structure thereby allowing the workbench to be selectably positioned in at least one of two work mode configurations. The top dimensions and support structure configuration is selected so that a work piece may be moved across the top surface without interference for the support structure. The motor support structure is configured for a minimum vertical profile while providing motor movement relative to the work piece. The system may further comprise wireless technology for controlling the motor movement. The workbench apparatus without the routing support structure can be used for attaching and storing a plurality of devices.

Abstract: A fence assembly with an articulating bit guard is disclosed. The fence assembly with an articulating bit guard preferably includes a workpiece fence, an arm pivotally coupled with the workpiece fence, a slot formed in the arm, and a shield pivotally coupled with the arm at the slot formed in the arm. In operation, as a workpiece is pushed underneath the bit guard, the arm pivots with respect to the workpiece fence, while the shield pivots with respect to the arm as the shield is being raised upward. Further, the pivot point between the shield and the arm is able to slide within a slot provided on the arm, which allows the shield to remain parallel with the workpiece being fed through to engage the power tool.

Abstract: An adjustable scale typically used with a router table may be reset at any time to facilitate determining the change in height of the router regardless of where the scale is positioned when the router is at a given height. When used with a router table having a table plate with a height adjustment screw for adjusting the height of the router, the scale includes a marker carried by the table plate or the adjustment screw. When carried by the adjustment screw, the marker is rotatable relative to the adjustment screw to align markings thereon with a reference mark on the table plate to reset the scale. Thus, a zero marking may be aligned with the reference mark at any height of the router, and the adjustment screw and marker may then be rotated together to adjust the height of the router and simultaneously measure the height change.

The workbench is a multiplayer structure comprising a metal board, a cushioning layer and a wooden layer stacked upon each other. The metal board is disposed at the top, and the cushioning layer is sandwiched between the metal board and the wooden layer. The presence of a cushioning layer can effectively absorb the vibration and accompanying noise transmitted from the top-layer metal board. As such, lightweight and thinner metal board can be used to lower the production cost and the weight of the entire workbench structure, and the handling of workbench is made easier with the use of less manpower, thereby reducing industrial accidents and costs.
