    Abstract: The present invention includes the apparatus and method to create an improved loose tenon joint with multiple arculate mortise surfaces and similarly configured loose tenon member for woodworking applications. A drilling jig is provided to axially guide a drill bit for boring a series of adjoining holes forming a mortise, and a router bit is provided to form a cooperating tenon. A first jig embodiment manipulates a slidable drilling guide bar maintaining longitudinally spaced thru-bores and a plurality of index holes. A second embodiment includes a stationary jig body having an opening that supports at least two drilling guides each having at least one thru-bore. A third embodiment provides a drilling guide bar slidably attached to a stationary support member by at least one indexing pin inserted through an elongated indexing aperture in the stationary support member and into an indexing hole in the guide bar. Preferably, the indexing pin and indexing hole are threaded.

The transmission member has a connection disk which is engaged securely with a rotating shaft of a machining tool and with an action disk mounted along with a cutter on an action shaft. The action shaft is provided an action shaft. The action shaft is provided with an expandable member having two guide rods. The fixation member comprises a connection piece and a sustaining plate. The base member has a vertical face and a horizontal face. The vertical face is fastened with the guide rods of the expandable member of the transmission member and is provided with a strip hole through which the cutter is advanced and withdrawn.

    Abstract: A jig for guiding a power tool having a cutter bit to cut joint members in workpieces includes a base frame having a tool support surface and a workpiece support surface. A pair of guide arms are releasably attachable to the power tool. A track is formed on the tool support surface adapted to slidably receive one of the guide arms. A template is releasably securable to the tool support surface having guide surfaces engagable by the other of the guide arms. The track and template co-operate to guide movement of the power tool atop the tool support surface. A clamping system is provided for securing workpieces to the workpiece support surface in a position to be cut by the power tool slidably supported on the tool support surface and guided by the track and the template to provide a joint member in one workpiece and a complementary joint member in another workpiece.

    Abstract: A simple, low cost, light weight biscuit jointer (21) comprises an elongated motor housing (23), a motor end cap assembly (25) fixed to one end of housing (23) and a base assembly (27) for engagement with a workpiece. To form a biscuit receiving slot in a workpiece, the motor housing (23) and end cap assembly (25) are pivoted relative to base assembly (27) for sweeping a an elongated, generally cylindrical bit (29) through an opening (31) in a base plate (33). The sweeping action is effected by an operator rotating a handle (35) fixed to end cap assembly (25) counterclockwise (FIG. 2) relative to base assembly (27). A handle (37) is used to stabilize base assembly (27) as house assembly (23) is pivoted to form the slot.

    Abstract: In the present application there is disclosed an adapter for attachment to a hand-held power tool of the type having cutting means driven by the power tool. The adapter includes a baseplate having an opening through which the cutter may extend. Means for fixing the baseplate to the power tool a guide hingedly fixed to the baseplate and clamping means for holding the guide a predetermined distance from the cutter. The guide is sized to fit within a groove cut by the cutter and is provided with a straight edge adapted to ride in such a groove while a second groove is being cut so that box or finger joints may be made with the tool and adapter.

    Abstract: A mortising machine adapted for connection to a conventional electric motor includes a frame having rotatably mounted therein a helically-grooved shaft on which is threadedly mounted a router assembly carrying a rotatable router bit for reciprocation along the grooved shaft upon its rotation. The shaft of the router bit and the grooved shaft are both driven from a drive shaft journaled in the frame by a drive connection arrangement of pulleys and timing belts to simultaneously rotate and reciprocate the router bit for cutting a linear mortised slot. For driving the shaft of the router bit, the drive arrangement includes a pulley on each of the drive shaft and router bit shaft, a traveling idler pulley mounted on an arm pivoted on the router assembly, and a timing belt trained about the pulleys.

    Abstract: A mortising machine comprising a clamping means whereby the machine may be mounted upon a workpiece; a drive motor mounted such that its drive shaft is substantially perpendicular to the working face of the workpiece; a cutting head mounted to the end of the drive shaft adjacent the workface; and a support means to support the drive shaft between the drive motor and the cutting head. The support means also provides support for the drive motor, the drive shaft and the drive motor being slidably mounted to the support means to be movable perpendicular to the workface. There are feeding means between the support means and the motor such that the drive shaft can be fed through the support means; and a guide is mounted to the clamping means to which the support means is slidably mounted such that the support means together with the drive shaft are capable of movement on the guide perpendicular to that produced by the feed means.
