  • Patent number: 7506395
Abstract: A pipe cleaning tool comprises a rod slidably retained in a housing. The housing is affixed to a pipe in the area of the blockage so that, when affixed, the rod slides through the housing and through the blocked pipe. The end of the rod is pushed into and through the blockage, allowing free flow of fluid through the pipe to resume. A blowout port on the housing is in fluid communication with a rod bore in the housing through which the rod slides so that, when the blockage is removed, fluid flows out through the rod bore and out the blowout port. Fluid flowing out through the blowout port can then be controlled and directed by coupling a hose to the blowout port. The pipe cleaning tool is particularly useful to remove blockages in the test cocks of backflow prevention valves.

  • Patent number: 7194780
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning deposits from the interior surfaces of a kiln. The apparatus utilizes a directed high-pressure fluid jet to remove deposits adhering to elements within a kiln. The pressurized fluid is delivered to the fluid jet through the shaft of a rotary drill. The drill shaft is received in a sleeve permitting rotational and longitudinal displacement of the shaft. The sleeve also defines a plenum surrounding the drill shaft to communicate pressurized fluid to the fluid jet throughout longitudinal and rotational displacement of the drill shaft. The drill further utilizes a boring bit suitable for penetrating encrusted deposits to provide the fluid jet access to the interior surfaces of the kiln. For removing severe encrustations, the drill bit may be used to partially penetrate the encrustation and a linear actuator may then be employed to press large portions of the encrustation from the kiln's refractory lining.

Abstract: A debris retaining and retrieval tool for cleaning the barrels of rifles. A serrated brass cutting blade is positioned between two spaced plastic guide discs and further between a plastic lead-in guide element and a plastic follower guide element. The elements are combined by a bolt and nut and fastened to a ram rod. The spaced guide discs and the cutting blade entrap the scraped barrel residue of powder, plastic and lead to be carried outside the cleaned barrel for removal by a toothbrush.

  • Patent number: 6676767
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved apparatus and method for removing condensates, such as chlorides, from a dry etch, vacuum effluent stream. Dry etching of metallizations under vacuum conditions, using RF plasma and other techniques, is used in the processing of semiconductor devices and other applications. The apparatus and method remove accumulated chloride deposits that would otherwise restrict and ultimately plug the pipe that carries the vacuum effluent stream. The present invention utilizes an inner tube that is placed on the interior of the pipe and magnetically coupled to an outer tube that surrounds the exterior of the pipe. Translation of the outer tube causes translation of the inner tube, thereby removing accumulated condensate from the pipe. The apparatus may be configured so as to sense the accumulation of the condensate and automatically actuate the apparatus to remove the accumulated condensate.

Abstract: The fluid-powered scouring whip is a length of flexible tubing composed of rubber or plastic. One or more scouring members, such as bristles or tines, extend outward from the tubing. These scouring members are molded or tooled as integral parts of the tubing, and may be configured in a variety of angles, densities, patterns or lengths. The fluid-powered scouring whip would be attached to a source of rapidly moving fluid. The whip would be introduced into a remote area in need of cleaning, such as an air duct. When fluid was introduced through the fluid-powered scouring whip, the whip would move about rapidly and randomly, scouring the surfaces of the area into which it had been introduced.

Abstract: The seal assembly is disclosed for use with a valve having a trim cage with an inner surface extending along in axis and a plug sized to fit inside the trim cage inner surface, wherein the plug is adapted to move along the axis thereof. A seal ring is attached to an upstream portion of the cage to effectuate a seal with the plug. The plug is equipped with a wiper seal that cleans or otherwise removes debris from the seating surface of the seal ring, an interior surface of the seal ring and an interior surface of the cage during both the opening and the closing of the valve. Thus, the valve is self-cleaning. Further, the wiper seal delays throttling action through the valve until the plug has moved a substantial distance away from the seating surface of the seal ring which reduces high pressure abrasive flow against the seating surface of the seal ring to reduce wear on the trim set.

  • Patent number: 6546581
Abstract: A casing scraper for cleaning the internal wall of a tube 26 such as a well casing has at least three, rigidly connected, axially and angularly spaced scraper bodies 12, 14, 16 each with a scraping surface 13, 15, 17. The radial dimension of the scraper at each scraping surface is slightly greater than the internal radius of the tube which it will scrape. When the scraper is fully inserted in the tube bore, the scraping surfaces are deflected inwardly and the axial connection 20, 22 between the bodies is accordingly elastically deformed. Th energy stored through this elastic deformation produces a radially outwardly acting force which presses the scraping surfaces 13, 15, 17 against the wall of the tube 26. The eccentric arrangement of the scraping surfaces, and the axial spacing between the surfaces causes the parts of the scraper connecting the scraping surfaces to be placed in bending when the scraper is in place within the tube.
