Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a rotation-symmetrical container with a mouth which comprises:positioning means for placing and holding a container in a raised inclined position such that the mouth is situated on the underside;first drive means for rotating the container round its centre line; andscraping means for placing into the container and drivable in the direction of the centre line thereof by means of the second drive means,such that during the action of the first and the second drive means the inner surface of the container is scraped clean.

Abstract: Lubricant pails are quickly washed and dried during an automatic machine operating cycle which is initiated by manual placement of each pail on a holding mandrel and simultaneous operation of an adjacent limit switch. Mandrel and pail rotation are initiated and a rotating brush is moved into engagement with the exterior of the rotating pail while cleaning solvent is delivered onto the pail throughout its length. The brush cleaning cycle is followed by a solvent rinse cycle, which in turn is followed by a blown air drying cycle, after which the clean pail is ejected from the mandrel by positive air pressure. The several cycles are timer controlled. In a modification, closed end pails are laterally loaded on a roller bed.

Abstract: The apparatus carried by a suitable handling device, and comprising a first base structure attached to the handling device and provided with vertical guides for the sliding of a first carriage, a second base structure attached to said carriage and provided with horizontal guides for the sliding of a second carriage, and an operating head carried by the second carriage through a hydropneumatic device comprising at least one double-acting penumatic cylinder for supporting said head and having its axis vertically arranged, and a hydraulic damper connected between said second carriage and operating head, the lower chamber of the operating head supporting pneumatic cylinder being supplied with a first value of pressure as to cause a fast lifting of said head, while the upper chamber of the pneumatic cylinder is supplied with a value of pressure at a lower level as to annul the upward thrust, at the same time supplying said operating head with a downward operative thrust of a constant value.
