  • Patent number: 8517068
Abstract: Non-pneumatic resilient wheel (10), that is supported structurally and defines three perpendicular directions, circumferential (X), axial (Y) and radial (Z), this wheel comprising: a hub (11); an annular band referred to as a shear band (13) comprising at least one inner circumferential membrane (14) and one outer circumferential membrane (16) that are oriented in the circumferential direction X; and a plurality of support elements (12) that connect the hub (11) to the inner circumferential membrane (14)U. The two membranes (14, 16) are connected to one another by means of a series, that extends in the circumferential direction (X), of cylinders (15) referred to as connection cylinders, said connection cylinders (15) being non-touching in the circumferential direction X and having their generatrix oriented in the axial direction Y. The connection cylinders (15) are composite cylinders comprising fibers embedded in a resin matrix.

  • Patent number: 6981535
Abstract: An elastic wheel includes a disk (1) having a base rim (2), a rim (3) for supporting a tire (10), and an annular elastic rubber body (4) arranged between the outer peripheral surface of the base rim (2) and the inner peripheral surface of the rim (3). A gap is formed between the elastic rubber body (4) and the outer peripheral surface of the base rim (2) or the inner peripheral surface of the rim (3). The elastic rubber body (4) with the gap has a spring constant that shifts from a smaller value to a larger value as the input load increases, so that it absorbs vibration under small input conditions while being prevented from undergoing substantial deformation under large input conditions. The elastic wheel ensures riding comfortablesess performance and provides improved vibrationproof performance and soundproof performance, regardless of whether the input load is small or large, without sacrificing durability and safety.

  • Patent number: 5104201
Abstract: Hub apparatus for isolating the frame of a lightweight vehicle from shock imparted to a wheel on which the vehicle is mounted, the hub apparatus comprising an inner annular axle hub to which the frame is directly connected; an outer annular wheel hub surrounding the inner hub and connected directly to the wheel; an intermediate annular resiliently compressible spring engaged against opposing surfaces of the inner and outer hubs and separating the opposing surfaces of the hubs from each other; the intermediate spring being compressible such that shock imparted to the wheel is absorbed by compression of the spring between the opposing surfaces of the hubs.

  • Patent number: 4546807
Abstract: A spare tire is provided for passenger autos to replace the usual fifth pneumatic tire and wheel assembly supplied as original equipment with autos. The tire includes a metal hub having an annular bulge to provide clearance for the brake calipers of an auto equipped with the tire. A series of rim segment assemblies with tread rubber thereon is mounted on the periphery of the hub member forming the tire rim. Each segment has a T-shaped metal member the T-stem of which is generally trapezoidal in shape and is vulcanized-bonded to a rubber block similar in shape which has an opposite surface vulcanized-bonded to a thin sheet metal segment. Each rim segment assembly is separately connected by suitable means to the hub member. A protective device guarding against tire collapse in event of failure of a bond between the rubber block and a metal member, engages the T-stem and hub member.
