Annular Patents (Class 152/56)
  • Patent number: 9731562
Abstract: A wheel assembly for an agricultural implement and method of forming the agricultural wheel assembly includes a tire body, an annular ring, and a hub. The tire body has an inner wall and an outer wall collectively defining an annular pocket therebetween. The inner wall defines a central, axial hole through the tire body and has a circumferential slot extending therethrough. The annular ring is positioned within the circumferential slot and secured to the tire body such that the annular ring projects radially inward through the circumferential slot to the axial hole. As such, the annular ring is configured to operatively engage the hub such that the tire body mounts to the hub.

  • Patent number: 7913733
Abstract: A tire for a vehicle comprises, an inner wheel (12) adapted to mount to a vehicle having a radially outer surface (34). A first ring (16) is annular and concentric with the inner wheel (12) and has a radially outer (40) and a radially inner (38) surface. An annular inner-tube (14) is securedly positioned between the inner wheel (12) and the first ring (16). A second ring (18) has a radially outer surface (46) and a radially inner surface (44) adapted to mate with first ring (16). A tread (20) is secured to radially outer surface (46) of said second ring (18).

  • Patent number: 7090306
Abstract: A skate wheel including a tire support structure adapted to reduce roll resistance generally encountered from a tire comprising a 60 A to 75 A Shore hardness material. The tire support structure comprises a flexible torus portion proximal to an inner core, and a substantially rigid radially extending portion extending radially outward from the flexible torus portion. The flexible torus portion cooperates with the inner core to form a cavity. The radially extending portion extends to approximately eighty to ninety five percent of the total wheel diameter. When a load is placed on the wheel, the radially extending portion is pressed against the flexible torus portion, and the flexible torus portion deforms into the cavity. The combination of the radially extending portion and the flexible torus portion moderates distortion of the soft tire, thereby reducing roll resistance.

  • Publication number: 20020170640
Abstract: A vehicle wheel in which the inner annular shock absorber element (3) is located within the wheel itself and not in contact with the roadbed, as is the tire in prior art. The inner annular shock absorber element (3) may be a tube shaped annulus filled with air under pressure, or made from a solid resilient rubber compound. It is located within the wheel assembly between an outer annular rim (2) and an inner annular rim (4), both of which have concave surfaces to accommodate the shock absorber element (3). The tread (1) is located on the outer metal rim (2) at the periphery of the wheel and provides a friction surface in contact with the roadbed. It may be made from a solid rubber compound with grooves cut into it, or designs molded into it, to provide a friction surface. The hub assembly (6) is located at the center of the wheel, and it is rigidly connected to the inner metal rim (4) by the metal wheel support section (5).

  • Patent number: 4655636
Abstract: A pneumatic suspension device, suitable for transmitting torque, is composed of a single toroid-shaped vibration-damping pneumatic ring. The inner surface of the ring rests on a rim connected to the part of the machine which must be free from vibration (for example, a hydraulic engine). The machine is directly flanged on a reduction unit, and both the machine and device are made integral with a bracket and frame. The outer surface of the pneumatic ring is gripped by a series of S-shaped jaw elements, bolted onto a support ring welded to the inner cylindrical wall of a vibrating drum. The S-shaped jaw elements have a profile such that each pair of jaws, once fixed in position on the outer band of the toroidal pneumatic ring, forms therewith a single body damping the vibration of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4031937
Abstract: A pneumatic or semi-pneumatic unitary tire-wheel comprising a completely enclosed toroidal chamber bonded around a coaxial inner sleeve. A plurality of tie members are integral with and extend between the sidewalls to restrict lateral deformation thereof. Such reinforcing tie members may be hollow to give the appearance of openings between wheel spokes.
