Radial Patents (Class 152/97)
  • Patent number: 8863794
Abstract: An internal wheel suspension and shock absorbing system includes a hub with radially extending spokes, cooperating with springs axially mounted thereon, abutting a hub and entering the rim of a wheel. The spokes secure onto a hub that mounts onto the vehicle axle, for rotation. When a force is encountered, the forces are absorbed by the spokes, the springs, and the slots as the hub has limited translation within the rim. The springs are adjustable and bias against the head of the spokes and the hub, and absorb the impact of vector forces generated from any impact.

  • Patent number: 8006728
Abstract: A centrifugal wheel apparatus for a vehicle having a plurality of pivoting elements attachable to an interior of a vehicle wheel that, when subjected to centripetal force, pivot away from the vehicle wheel and toward a pneumatic tire attached to the vehicle wheel to reshape the pneumatic tire into a dome thereby decreasing surface contact between the vehicle and a surface so that the vehicle may travel with less resistance and increased economy.

  • Publication number: 20080190529
Abstract: A wheel assembly, including a rim and a central hub assembly, having a plurality of spokes threaded to a central hub. Each of the spokes movable under spring load within a tangential slots provided on the rim. A spring surrounding each spoke, with a first end of the spring engaging the central hub. When the wheel assembly is rolling and encounters a force caused by a bump and the rim deflects radially, the rim moves radially, causing the slots to move radially and tangentially along the spokes while the springs absorb the impact caused by the bump.

  • Patent number: 6698480
Abstract: A non-pneumatic tire and wheel system comprises a tire having an exterior tread surface with a tread pattern and an interior surface. A wheel has a hub and a rim assembly. A plurality of radially oriented shock absorbing spokes each have radially interior and radially exterior ends for coupling the hub and rim assembly. Apertures through the hub allow pivotably coupling the hub to a spoke at the radially interior end of the spoke. Apertures through the rim assembly allow pivotably coupling the rim assembly to a spoke at the radially exterior end of the spoke. Each shock absorbing spoke has a central cylindrical tube with interior and exterior caps. Each spoke has an interior piston and rod and a pin. The pin pivotably couples the spoke to the hub. Each spoke has an exterior piston and rod and a pin. The pin pivotably couples the spoke to the rim assembly.
