  • Patent number: 10232966
Abstract: A packaging machine forms, fills and seals a mixing pouch that includes a first compartment containing a liquid ingredient and a second compartment containing a light powdered ingredient with a breakable seal, preferably formed by an adhesive heat seal, between the two compartments to separate the two ingredients. The machine creates a breakable seal that can be ruptured to form a common interior cavity and allow the mixing of the two ingredients to create a mixed product. One end of the mixing pouch can be formed with a dispenser through which the mixed product is discharged for use. The mixing pouch is a flexible plastic member formed from two opposing plastic sheets, sealed through heat dies and supplied with powdered and liquid components before being completed. The operation of the machine is automated and powered through pneumatic cylinders. Alternatively, the compartments could be filled with different liquid components.

Abstract: Composite webs having a structured web attached to a carrier web and methods of manufacturing the composite webs are disclosed. The structured web may include a plurality of structures that protrude from the structured web. The methods may involve delivering a molten polymeric composition onto the outer surface of a forming tool that includes a plurality of depressions formed in the outer surface. The molten polymer enters depressions in the outer surface of the forming tool and is solidified therein such that a plurality of structures are formed in the shape of the depressions. A skin layer of the polymeric composition may extend between the depressions, such that the structured web formed on the forming tool includes a skin layer connecting the structures. The structured web is removed from the forming tool after solidification of the polymeric composition by adhering the structured web to a carrier web using adhesive located between the carrier web and structured web.

Abstract: In the method for the authentication of identification features that are embossed on a packaging foil together with satin-finishing and the embossing of logos, a number of identification features is embossed on-line as a pattern and read by a suitable apparatus and evaluated by means of an image evaluation method. The embossing device (1) suitable therefor includes at least two embossing rollers (2, 3, 15), a reading unit, and an evaluating unit, one of the embossing rollers (2) being driven by the motor drive mechanism (5) and having individual teeth (8) of which a number of teeth for embossing identification features have a different shape, height, or surface structure while the remaining teeth serve for satin-finishing, and one of the mating rollers (3) being provided with circumferential rings (10). Such a method and such a device allow a relatively simpler embossing device with relatively lower requirements with regard to the embossing quality than in methods of the prior art.

Abstract: A synthetic amorphous marble flooring and a manufacturing method of the same are disclosed. The method includes the steps of kneading a synthetic resin compound with multi-colored spot color chips and primarily rolling the kneaded compound to manufacture a primarily rolled sheet, laminating the primarily rolled sheets while cutting the sheet to have a predetermined size and rotating the sheet, performing secondary rolling the laminated sheets by a low-temperature calendering to form wave patterns and rough surface on the sheets, and filling the rough surface of the secondarily rolled sheets by embossing in the length direction or any type of embossing using a first embossing unit of a double-embossing system to maintain uniform thickness, and flattening the surface by a secondary embossing unit of the double-embossing system. Thus, the synthetic marble flooring exhibiting amorphous marble patterns and excellent durability and a method of manufacturing the same are provided.

Abstract: A device and a method for applying tape to one or more sheets of material in a moving line-up. The device can include a tape applicator, a sensor, a tape cutter, a tape gripper, an engagement-initiation press, and a hold-down portion. During intermittent operation, the tape applicator is moved away from the sheets of material causing an unattached tape portion to extend from the tape applicator to a final connection point on the sheets of material. The tape cutter and the tape gripper are configured to cut and grip the unattached tape portion. As tape application is restarted, the engagement-initiation press is lowered to hold the end of the tape in place. The hold-down portion prevents the sheets of material from shifting out of alignment as tape is applied by the tape applicator. The sensor can be used, for example, to detect gaps between the sheets of material.

Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for applying double-layered rigidity strips to a sealable foil web which is transported in sequences. V-shaped loops are formed at predetermined foil sections set at a distance from one another in the web transport direction. The sides of the loops are subsequently sealed together in such a way that the thus formed rigidity strips, extending transversely to the direction of transport, project collar-like from the foil web. Each foil section at which a loop is formed, a controlled auxiliary loop is arranged which serves for adaptation to changes in format regarding the distances between the foil sections. A drum, having a relatively large diameter serves as a transport roller, which drum has devices arranged around its circumference for the purpose of forming a plurality of loops and auxiliary loops.
