Patent number: 4828432Abstract: Apparatus for lining an irrigation canal with a sheet of fiber-reinforced plastic includes structure for depositing a layer of resin and fiber on a web of flexible carrier material, partially curing the resin prior to laying the sheet in the canal, and then laying the sheet in the canal while the resin is flexible enough to conform to the shape of the canal. The final curing of the resin takes place after the sheet is placed in the canal. A predetermined-shape wrinkle is induced in the carrier web before it is laid into the canal to assist in conforming the sheet to the canal shape without causing randomly placed wrinkles so that the sheet is smooth in the canal. The apparatus forms the sheet and is propelled so that it travels along the length of the canal, fabricating a continuous sheet as it travels. In one embodiment the carrier is a flexible but nonelastic material like kraft paper, coated on one side with wax or other film to prevent saturation by the resin.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1986Date of Patent: May 9, 1989Assignee: PMC, Inc.Inventor: Frank E. Patent number: 4773960Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying cellulose fiber insulation of the spray on loose fill type. The insulation is coated by a dry and thus deactivated adhesive and is stored in a storage tank. At the moment it exits the storage tanks, the insulation is exposed to and moistened by water sprayed by a nozzle member. The moistened insulation travels the length of a blow hose to reach the application site at the discharge end of the blow tube. The moisture activates the dry adhesive as the insulation travels through the hose, and the turbulence within the hose ensures that all of the fibers are moistened. Thus, by the time the adhesive is discharged by the blow tube, it sets in the absence of dust and virtually no setting time is required because the activated adhesive has begun to set.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1986Date of Patent: September 27, 1988Assignee: Suncoast Insulation Manufacturing, Co.Inventors: Alfred J. The transfer device is advantageously correlated with the downstream limit of the first carrier and the upstream limit of the second carrier to transfer and rotate the window about its axis of symmetry. A function of the window length on the first carrier is measured and the separation of the nozzles of the second pair adjusted accordingly. A supply device centers a window and deposits it in a predetermined centered position in the first carrier.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1975Date of Patent: May 9, 1978Assignee: Saint-Gobain IndustriesInventors: Alain Mercier, Yves Fournier
