Grip Or Clamp For Web End Patents (Class 156/576)
  • Patent number: 4806184
Abstract: A hand-held wallpaper applicator for supporting and applying sheet material to a wall or other surface comprises a hand held support member having a hand grip portion and a flat generally rectangular base portion with an elongate separable roller assembly rotatably and removably carried by the support member. The roller assembly is adapted to receive and releasably secure one end of a strip of wallcovering material thereon and to receive the remaining strip material thereon in a rolled condition. A laterally adjustable elongate tubular pressure contact member is removably carried at the forward end of the support member parallel with the roller assembly for contacting and applying pressure to the wallcovering material as it is scrolled off the roller assembly. A tensioning mechanism on the support member applies resilient pressure to the material rolled on the roller assembly and maintains the remaining material in the rolled condition as the material is being scrolled off the roller assembly.

  • Patent number: 4762586
Abstract: Disclosed is a combined tape dispenser and hand-held tape applicator formed of a minimum of molded components designed for interlocking assembly without fasteners. The housing includes a handgrip lockable either in an extended position when employed to apply tape to a surface or in a retracted position when not in use or when used to dispense tape from a desk top support. The tape is mounted on a tape carrier normally biased to an extended tape-applicating position and manually retractable to expose a normally guarded cutting blade for severing the tape. While the carrier is moving between retracted and extended positions, a tape catcher clutches the tape reawardly from its free end and holds it captive with the free end thereof extending outwardly beyond the dispensing port in visible readiness for precise visible attachment to a surface to be taped.

  • Patent number: 4662970
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming discrete length strip members each composed of a plurality of laterally interconnected items, and collating those strip members into a plurality of pads of items. A supply source of elongate material is supported by support means and fed along a feed path past longitudinal and transverse cutting means which, respectively, progressively longitudinally cut the elongate material into a plurality of material strips, and intermittently transversely cut the material strips into the strip members. Strip member feed means intermittently feeds the strip members onto a work surface with successive feedings being superimposed on preceding feedings. Following each feeding, a carriage moves over the work surface carrying a supply source of self-adhesive tape which is fed from the supply source and laid in a relaxed condition along, but laterally overlapping from, an edge portion of each strip member.

  • Patent number: 4608116
Abstract: A baseboard edge taping tool for applying tape to a baseboard edge and cutting the tape upon tilting the tool so that the cut can be placed in a corner and the tool can be used to continue applying tape to another baseboard edge without rethreading the tape. The taping tool has a base with a flat bottom surface for resting on the baseboard edge against which the masking tape is to be applied. A body portion is rotatably mounted to the base so that it can be rotated between a lowered position and a raised position. A spool is mounted to the body portion for holding a roll of masking tape which is fed over a roller at the front end of the body and across the bottom surface of the base. A second roller is mounted to the body adjacent the first roller to hold the tape against the first roller. A cutting mechanism is attached to the base and extends horizontally forward to cut the tape when the body is rotated. The rotation of the body lifts the first roller up and away from a corner.

  • Patent number: 4481063
Abstract: This insulation applicator applies electrical insulation to a thin conductive strap that is attached to and extends transversely of wire being wound into a coil. The applicator comprises two applicator segments between which is a feed passage through which two strips of insulation are fed. The segments are moved transversely of the wire from a first position at one side of the wire to a second position at the other side, thus introducing the strap into the feed passage. Holding means releasably holds the strips respectively to the segments while the strips extend through the feed passage, thus carrying the strips with the segments and holding apart the forward ends of the strips during the above-described transverse movement of the segments. Means on the segments acts when the insulating strips have been so moved to force the strips together about the strap and effect bonding between the strips.

  • Patent number: 4305331
Abstract: A screen printer has a flat bed coplanar with a loading and an unloading surface on opposite sides thereof, the bed being divided into a stationary middle section and two movable outer sections confronting one another along boundary lines paralleling the direction of movement of copy sheets from the loading surface to the unloading surface. Such movement is effected with the aid of a conveyor comprising two chains underneath the bed entraining sheet-gripping jaws through the gaps formed between these sections when they are transversely separated. The jaws are almost flush with the plane of the bed and the loading and unloading surfaces; upon closure of the bed sections, they are received in cutouts of the outer sections and are thus immobilized while a printing screen descends into contact with a copy sheet overlying the bed.

  • Patent number: 4285758
Abstract: A bonding apparatus for applying a thermoplastic-adhesive coated core material to a moving substrate as disclosed. Heat exchanger guide means directs a continuous length of hot melt strand to an output orifice at a bonding station. The hot melt adhesive is softened by the unique heat exchanger means to its flow point, just before the strand leaves the output orifice. A rapidly replaceable bonding shoe presses the hot melt strand onto a substrate moving past the bonding station, as soon as the heated strand leaves the output orifice, thus bonding the strand to the moving substrate. Biasing means selectively provides presettable compression or tension forces to the bonding shoe, as required by the particular bonding application. Optional cooling apparatus positioned immediately downstream from the bonding station, further compresses the hot melt strand on the substrate and cools the adhesive to bonding consistency.
