Removing Separate Labels From Stacks (9/12) Patents (Class 156/DIG30)
  • Patent number: 5607539
Abstract: A labelling apparatus is provided wherein labels (21) are transported from a label magazine (9) to a labelling station by means of a conveyor belt (1). Adhesive is applied to the conveyor belt (1) by means of a pasting station (5) at the portions which are to receive a label (21). The pasted portion of the conveyor belt is brought into contact with the label to be received such that the label is taken over and transferred by the sticking effect exerted by the adhesive. The conveyor belt (1) passes around a delivery edge (3) where the label is lifted off from the conveyor belt and applied to the object to be labelled.

  • Patent number: 4851072
Abstract: Apparatus for applying labels to containers including a label application station having a label dispensing magazine for holding a stack of labels and releasing the end label of the stack through an opening formed in the magazine to a container. Means are provided for rolling containers past the magazine so that when a leading edge of an end label on a stack is adhered to a side of a container the label is rolled onto the container and withdrawn from the magazine. A plurality of retaining fingers extend in front of the magazine opening to retain the stack of labels in the magazine. Control arms associated with the retaining fingers are adapted to retract the retaining fingers out of label retaining position in response to contact with a container rolling past the magazine.

  • Patent number: 4508330
Abstract: A pick-up and transfer mechanism for labels or the like, preferably for transferring labels in a labeling machine from a label magazine to a greater cylinder. The mechanism has at least one pick-up element on a carrying element rotating around a vertical axis. In order to obtain the required way of movement of the pick-up element relative to the rotating carrying element, the pick-up element is rotatably mounted on an intermediate carrier which in turn is rotatably mounted on the carrying element, with the axis of rotation of the pick-up element on the intermediate carrier being eccentrically arranged to the axis of rotation of the intermediate carrier on the carrying element and with the axis of rotation of the intermediate carrier on the carrying element being eccentrically arranged to the axis of rotation of the carrying element.

  • Patent number: 4386995
Abstract: A label magazine for supplying labels to a labeller has a label stack tray, a label picker for withdrawing individual labels from the stack and a device for advancing the stack of labels towards the label picker. The device for advancing the labels exerts a repetitive varying pressure on the label stack to advance it by alternately increasing pressure on the stack of labels for compressing same and subsequently reducing the pressure on the stack of labels.

  • Patent number: 4212700
Abstract: A labeling station has a rotating gripper cylinder having gripper elements equally spaced therearound to define label divisions and a carrier rotating in the same sense bearing pickup elements thereon mounted for either rotary or rocking movement in a contrary sense with respect to the carrier during the label transfer. The movement is controlled such that the receiving surfaces of the pickup elements roll at least in the forward area against the gripper cylinder surface when the gripper cylinder rotates. The arc length of the receiving surface of each pickup element is greater than the arc length of each label division of the gripper cylinder and the trailing portion of each label is lifted by at least one of the slip surfaces on the front edges of the pickup elements and blow nozzles associated with the gripper elements on the gripper cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4190244
Abstract: A device for picking up sheets from a magazine in a packaging machine comprises a driving shaft pivotally supporting a plurality of oscillating levers each comprising a cylindrical segment having grippers for picking up the sheets. A plurality of cams are moreover provided for actuating the oscillating levers to cause the cylindrical segments to roll without slippage for a fraction of a turn of the driving shaft to pick up the leading sheet in the magazine.

  • Patent number: 4154639
Abstract: In a bottle labeller of the type having a rotating discharge roller with an extending finger that withdraws a label from a magazine, the discharge roller contains a piston in which the finger is carried by a complimentary shape of a slot in the piston with the base of the finger. The piston moves in a cylindrical bore both axially and rotatably to retract the finger from extended position into the roller when a bottle detecting system discovers an interruption in the flow of bottles to the labeller. The detecting system directs pressurized air to the roller, forcing the piston to move in the bore and retract the finger when an interruption is discovered.

  • Patent number: 4082260
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for separating a single outermost label from a stack of labels mounted on a centrally disposed shaft in a magazine. The apparatus utilizes a pair of friction members diametricaly opposed from said shaft and containing respective friction engaging elements which are caused to reciprocally move into a position where the friction engaging elements doggingly engage the outermost label of the stack and move toward one another thereby causing the outermost label to slide and bend outward from the next adjacent label in the stack. Included in the apparatus is an adjustable camming mechanism for varing the points at which the friction engaging elements contact the outermost label of the stack.

  • Patent number: 4025067
Abstract: A feeder mechanism for a labelling machine to transfer gum from a gumming apparatus to labels at a label supply location, and then to convey the labels to a transfer means. The mechanism includes a feeder member which carries at least one label receiving element mounted on the feeder member by means of a pivot shaft. The feeder member is rotatably driven about an axis and bodily driven in a circular path about a central axis, the feeder member axis being eccentric to said central axis. The pivot shaft is parallel to the rotary axis of its associated feeder member, whereby the movement of the pivot shaft perpendicular to its axial direction describes a looped hypotrochoid. The orientation of each label receiving element about the axis of its pivot shaft is controlled in dependence on the orientation of the feeder member about its rotary axis.
