Including Frangible Or Fusible Portion Patents (Class 16/222)
  • Patent number: 4766643
Abstract: A lift-off vehicle door hinge is formed of a pair of interleaved stampings having pivot pins received in bearings in relatively pivotally movable parts of the stampings and an abutment tab is formed as one of the stampings to prevent lift-off separation when the stampings are arranged in a position effecting closure of the vehicle door.

  • Patent number: 4713861
Abstract: A hinge pin and bushing assembly is provided for machine insertion into a barrel of a hinge leaf. The assembly is preferably molded in one piece from a resilient self-lubricating plastic and includes a bushing having a concentric bore, a hinge pin having an end connected to the bushing concentrically with the bore by thin webs. The other end of the hinge pin is attached concentrically to a cylindrical plug. The bushing portions of a pair of assemblies are inserted into opposite ends of the leaf barrel and compressive force is applied to the outer ends of the plugs thereby breaking the webs and inserting the hinge pins into the bushing bores.

  • Patent number: 4553286
Abstract: The invention relates to hinge preparation assembly for mounting in each of the mortises formed in the hinge jamb of a steel frame. The hinge preparation assembly includes a hinge reinforcement member having a plurality of spaced apart threaded openings for mounting a leaf of a standard weight hinge set thereto. A hinge conversion means is removably mounted to the hinge reinforcement member so that upon its removal, the hinge preparation assembly is converted from a standard weight hinge preparation to a heavy weight hinge preparation and capable of mounting a leaf of a heavy weight hinge set thereto without requiring changing the hinge jamb of a steel door frame or modifying the hinge mortises thereof.

  • Patent number: 4536925
Abstract: Belt clip assembly for use with a portable electronic apparatus includes a mounting bracket used to join a belt clip and a housing member. A mounting bracket is inserted through a pair of slots in a housing member and holds a belt clip in place by means of a pivot pin inserted through apertures in the mounting bracket and the belt clip. A pair of shear cuts adjacent the apertures in the mounting bracket allow the pivot pin to pull through the shear cuts in the event excess forces are applied to the belt clip, thereby destroying the mounting bracket. In this manner an inexpensive mounting bracket is sacrificed to avoid damage to the housing and the belt clip.
