Abstract: Sensor fusion algorithm techniques are described. In one or more embodiments, behaviors of a host device and accessory devices are controlled based upon an orientation of the host device and accessory devices, relative to one another. A combined spatial position and/or orientation for the host device may be obtained based on raw measurements that are obtained from at least two different types of sensors. In addition, a spatial position and/or orientation for an accessory device is ascertained using one or more sensors of the accessory device. An orientation (or position) of the accessory device relative to the host computing device may then be computed based on the combined spatial position/orientation for the host computing device and the ascertained spatial position/orientation for the accessory device. The relative orientation that is computed may then be used in various ways to control behaviors of the host computing device and/or accessory device.

Abstract: The described embodiment relates generally to the field of press-fit technology. Press-fit technology results in deformation of one component to lock another component in place. This deformation commonly causes surface strain to occur on the deforming component. When a component is anodized surface strain can result in anodization cracking; this ruins the finished appearance of cosmetic surfaces, generally resulting in ghosting lines and splotches appearing on the surface of a component. The described embodiment achieves a careful balance between component deformation and surface strain. By utilizing specific press-fit geometries and assembly methods, surface strain can be sufficiently limited to eliminate anodization cracking while also achieving a durable press-fit joint.

Abstract: Briefly, the invention involves a hinge construction. The hinge construction includes a pair of contoured wing members connected at one end with a living hinge, each wing member including a portion of a hinge barrel. The wings are constructed to be folded around a hinge pin, forming the hinge barrel and positioning the wings in a generally parallel relationship with respect to each other. A portion of a wall or door jamb is positioned between the wings. Fasteners or the like are secured through the wings to fix the assembly, whereby the hinge pin is free to rotate within the barrel created by the folded wings.

  • Patent number: 8579008
Abstract: A hinge assembly having a hinge member and two adjacent panels. The hinge member is elongated with an inner surface that is slightly dished. There is an entry slot in the center of the inner surface extending inwardly into the member, the entry slot diverging into two curved branch slots extending in opposite directions. Each panel has a curved hinge element at each side of the panel with one hinge element curved in one direction and the other hinge element curved in the other direction, both hinge elements also curved toward each other. The hinge elements of the adjacent panels are mounted in the hinge member, the hinge elements passing together into the central slot and then diverging from each other into the branch slots. The panels can be moved in the slots between a folded position where they are almost parallel and an unfolded position where they are against the inner surface, almost aligned, and extending away from each other.

Abstract: Multi-axis compliant hinges used in conjunction with strut elements to form a collapsible structure. The hinges behaves similar to a pin-clevis hinges but have increased compliance during the deployment sequence allowing connected struts to translate and rotate finite amounts relative to each other. Once deployed, the hinges lock out to form strong and stiff joints. The hinge uses two opposing resilient tape spring surfaces for each axis. The opposing tape spring surfaces of each axis are joined together by rigid inserts at their ends opposite the common connection point and to which structural members or struts are connected.

Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a modular blocking panel system for a rack. The modular blocking panel system consists of multiple standardized panels which snap-together, or slidably attach to one another, in order to fill openings of any size in a rack. The panels connect to one another so that there is a seal at the junction between the panels. The seal blocks hot air in the interior of the rack from seeping through the panels and mixing with the cold air supply on the exterior of the panels. Multiple panels can be combined to create a single modular panel to cover any sized opening.
