  • Patent number: 7814617
Abstract: A hinge (10) has a first arm (14) pivotally mounted to a first mounting element (11) and a second arm (15) pivotally mounted to a second mounting element (12). The first and second arms (14, 15) intersect and are pivotally joined by a pivot (13). A first link (24) is pivotally connected to the first mounting element (11) and pivotally coupled to the second arm (15). A second link 21 is pivotally connected to the second mounting element (12) and pivotally coupled to the first arm (14). At least one of said first and second links (21, 24) is adjustable such as to adjust the position of the arm, to which the link is connected, with respect to a pivotal coupling of the mounting element to the arm. The first arm (14) is formed in two parts (31 and 32) which are pivotally coupled together whereby the angular position of one part (31) relative to the other part (32) can be altered and retained in an adjusted angular position by adjusting screws (44).

Abstract: The invention relates to a hinge for furniture units with cornice, provided inside with a spring device suitable to produce a pushing force on the door in the opening direction, in such a way as to be coupled with a holding device, for example of the ratchet type, and avoid the use of handles or other grasping elements. This hinge, with a single pivot pin, has an elastic element or spring, of the flat or steel wire type, fixed in a box or furniture element integral with the door, capable of exerting a pushing force on a cam or projection analogous to the fixing arm of the hinge and disposed so as to obtain a moment in the opening direction. Advantageous variants include a cam constituted by a separate plastic element fixed to the arm of the hinge or by one or more tabs produced on the arm. Advantageously, the spring can exert the pushing force during opening directly on the box, on the back of the fixing arm or on the lateral ribs of the arm.

Abstract: An automatic door shutter includes a stationary plate and a pressing plate pivotally combined together and with a resilient body located therebetween. Additionally, a pivot of the stationary plate has a sliding notch accepting an S-shaped resilient sheet abutting the pressing plate. By attaching the stationary plate and the sliding base to a door frame and a door respectively, the resilient body pushes the pressing plate to shut the door automatically. When the door is pushing to fully open, the pressing plate pivots to the stationary plate, and the S-shaped resilient sheet slides in the sliding recess and is compressed to deform to become U-shape. Until the door is fully open, the resilient sheet which is U-shaped causes an outward pushing force to the pressing plate to keep the door open constantly.

Abstract: An actuating mechanism for a pivotably mounted actuating arm for driving a flap of a piece of furniture includes a spring device and a transmission mechanism. The spring device includes a spring-loaded setting member and the transmission mechanism converts the movement of the setting member into a pivoting movement of the actuating arm. The transmission mechanism includes at least one pivotably mounted interlever interacting between the setting member and the actuating arm so that interaction between the interlever and the setting member or the actuating arm occurs by a setting contour. The transmission mechanism includes at least one adjustment device to alter the transmission ratio between the movement of the setting member and the pivoting movement of the actuating arm.

  • Publication number: 20090025181
Abstract: The present invention provides a self-closing hinge suitable for use in a variety of applications where it is desirable to provide for automatic closing of a hinged member in a delayed or slow fashion. The invention includes a generally cylindrical outer casing or housing that partially encloses a rotatable shaft that may be secured to a hinged member to effect the rotation thereof. The shaft is disposed within a recess in a cylindrical coupler that is engaged by the shaft during rotation in a first direction—generally an “open” rotational direction—and that engages the shaft to rotate it in a second direction—generally a “closed” rotational direction. The coupler is secured to a torsional spring that acts against the open rotation of the shaft and thereby forces the coupler to rotate in a closed direction. Additionally, a rotatable inner casing, which is generally cylindrical, may be disposed within the outer casing in close proximity thereto, such that a high viscosity fluid may be disposed therebetween.

Abstract: A compact and aesthetically-pleasing self-closing door hinge comprises a gravity-assist feature and preferably a spring-assist feature, wherein the spring may be easily adjustable, replaceable, and even left out of the hinge. The preferred embodiment is reversible for easily changing from a right-opening to a left-opening door, and the hinge lift-off capability, wherein the door and the blade connecting the door to the hinge body may be lifted up off the body of the hinge without any significant disassembly of the hinge. The spring is preferably placed around the gravity-assist cams of the hinge, rather than above or below the cams, which arrangement significantly reduces the overall height of the hinge with only slightly increased diameter of the hinge main body. The preferred hinge has no bolts or other fasteners visible or protruding out from the main housing of the hinge, and the preferred hinge has no exposed spring sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7430785
Abstract: A temporary checking device is provided that works in conjunction with elements of a vehicle hinge that remain in the vehicle's final configuration. The hinge includes a hinge pin rotatably connecting a door hinge bracket to a pillar hinge bracket. The checking device includes a spring portion that is disposed between the door hinge bracket and the pillar hinge bracket. The spring portion is compressed during movement of the door hinge bracket relative to the pillar hinge bracket from either of two rest positions. The spring portion urges the vehicle door affixed thereto back into one of the rest positions, thus allowing manufacturing operations such as painting, etc., to be performed on the vehicle.
