  • Patent number: 5715573
Abstract: The self latching hinge of the present invention includes a hinge having a hinge housing with a receiving channel and at least one receiving bore wherein the hinge housing is operably secured to a first hinged component. A piston having a concentric compression spring is operably received within the at least one receiving bore for movement between an extended position and a retracted position. One side of a latching link is operably connected to the at least one piston and another side of the latching link is connected to a second hinged component. When the at least one piston is in an extended position, the latching link is removed from the channel and when the at least one piston is in a retracted position, the latching link is received within the channel to form a locked and oriented connection between the first and second hinged components.

  • Patent number: 5664290
Abstract: Device for swivel holding of leaf flap which can swivel especially around a horizontal axis comprises a straight four-bar mechanism (8.1, 8.2, 10.1, 11.1) and elastic means (18) to damp the swivel motion. The elastic means have spring element (18) which is guided with its extensible part to move around anchoring element (7). Anchoring element (7) is for example a plastic ring which is inserted in hinged frame (1) of device. Its diameter corresponds to a multiple of a diameter of spring element (18). The entire device is preferably structured symmetrically with respect to the plane defined by the movement of four-bar mechanism (8.1, 9.1, 10.1, 11.1).

  • Patent number: 5486332
Abstract: A tubular liner bag is everted into a pipe to line the same, by first attaching an air hose end to the uneverted liner bag and then everting the tubular liner bag by water pressure provided into the manhole to the pipe. The head of the tubular liner bag is turned toward the pipe entrance when the head of the liner bag hits the inner wall of the pipe, and the tubular liner bag is everted into the pipe. The eversion is then stopped and the everted tubular liner bag is deformed to a J-shape with its head portion corresponding to the toe of the J-shape. Compressed air at a pressure not substantially greater than the pressure required to force the tubular liner bag to evert then exists in the toe section of the tubular liner bag but does not exist in the long-leg section.

  • Patent number: 5465463
Abstract: Hinge for hanging the free panel of a bipartite corner-cabinet door on the panel that is hinged to the supporting wall of the carcase. The hinge has two leaves associated one with each of the door panels and the leaves can pivot relative to one another on a pivot pin passing through aligned bores provided at the meeting arrises of the door. Each of these hinge leaves has at least one angular appendage running across the front edge of the associated door panel to a point near the door's arris, and the bores for the hinge pins are provided in the staggered knuckles of the hinge leaves. The two hinge leaves are in the form of elongated supporting arms to each of which the end of one link of a pair of links is articulated, the other ends of the links being articulated to one another.

  • Patent number: 5136752
Abstract: A hinge-latch structure is provided for the hood of a lawn and garden vehicle. The hinge structure includes dual pivots at the forward end of the hood to move the hood forwardly, upwardly and then swing it above a lateral axis to provide access to the engine compartment. An over-center spring mechanism serves to assist the operator in opening or closing the hood and further serves as a latch to urge the hood towards its closed position. A sliding seat latch is carried between the rear of the vehicle and the hood to guide the hood into place and prevent contact with control levers carried about the rear of the hood seating area.

  • Patent number: 4853985
Abstract: A cover assembly for use with a base structure such as a hot tub comprising a cover member mounted for rotational movement to the base structure by mounting arms. The mounting arms are arranged relative to the cover member so that the cover member travels along a path from a covering positioning to an open position, this path having a first path portion extending between the covering position and an intermediate location area of the cover member, and a second path portion extending between the open position and the intermediate location area. The cover member is arranged relative to the mounting arms in a manner that with the cover member on a first side of the intermediate location area in the first path portion, gravitational force on the cover assembly tends to move the cover member to the covering position, and with the cover member on the second side of the intermediate location area in the second path portion, gravitational force on the cover assembly tends to move the cover member to the open position.

  • Patent number: 4744127
Abstract: A door hinge is disclosed including a door mounting bracket and a body mounting bracket interconnected by an intermediate member pivotably attached to each bracket. A locking arrangement including a pivotable locking arm on the intermediate member simultaneously locks and unlocks the intermediate member with the respective mounting bracket at the closed and an intermediate open position of the door providing for sequential, reversible pivotable movement of the intermediate member and door bracket as a unit about the pivot point on the body bracket between the closed and intermediate open position and independent reversible pivotable movement of the door mounting bracket between the intermediate open position and fully open position of the door.

  • Patent number: 4527825
Abstract: A motor vehicle body has a fuel filler neck accessible through a flanged opening in a vehicle body panel and concealed by a door adapted to fit within the opening flush with the vehicle body panel. The door is mounted by a gooseneck hinge bracket having a first end which is mounted on the vehicle body by a main pivot defining a hinge axis located beyond the edge of the door, and having an associated main spring which urges the hinge bracket to a normal position closing the door. The other end of the hinge bracket is connected to the door by an auxiliary pivot having an associated stop which limits pivotal movement of the door relative to the hinge bracket and an associated spring which normally urges the door to the closed position. Depressing the edge portion of the door causes the door to pivot about the auxiliary pivot to an extent permitted by the stop.

  • Patent number: 4468065
Abstract: A tail gate opening/closing device for a dump truck in which bracket means are affixed at the upper rear ends of both side walls in the rear part of the carrier section. One end part of a bracket arm is pivotally arranged at each of the ends of the bracket means and each of the other ends is pivotally fastened to the end of a tail gate arm. When material transported such as sand, soil, gravel, etc. is dumped, the carrier section is raised to an angle with the ground causing the material transported to exert pressure on the tail gate so as to open the tail gate in a rearward direction and, at the same time both the bracket arm and the tail gate arm are rotated upwards and the fulcrum of the tail gate arm is also moved upwards. In this way, the tail gate is opened smoothly and the discharge port is opened to the widest extent possible.
