On Pintle Patents (Class 16/307)
  • Patent number: 4485522
Abstract: A door-closing hinge comprising an upper barrel with a wing secured to the door and an aligned lower barrel with a wing secured to the door frame. A bolt rotatable in the lower barrel has a non-circular upper end fitting in a non-circular opening in the upper barrel and a lower stem portion of smaller diameter which extends to the lower end of the lower barrel and has in its lower end a central conical depression engaged by a pivot pin in the lower end of the lower barrel. At the upper end of the lower barrel there is a ball bearing between a threaded collar screwed into the upper end of the lower barrel and a washer on the bolt. A sleeve surrounding the bolt has inner pins slidably received in helical grooves in the bolt and outer pins slidably received in longitudinal grooves in the inner surface of the lower barrel so that when the door is swung from closed position toward open position the sleeve is moved upwardly against the force of a spring which tends to return the door to closed position.

  • Patent number: 4475267
Abstract: A shock absorbing fallfront bracket of the type having rigid hinged-together links diagonally supporting the fallfront panel in its open position and folding into the cabinet in closed position, and also including a third spring loaded link extending from the mutual hinge of the linked pair and to the cabinet to resiliently resist the full opening of the panel, and to fold, when closed, fully into the cabinet along with the supporting linked pair.

  • Patent number: 4458379
Abstract: A closure panel hinge and hold open mechanism includes a hinge bracket adapted for mounting on a vehicle body and a closure panel bracket. A pivot shaft pivotally mounts the closure panel bracket on the hinge bracket. A coil spring surrounds the pivot shaft and has integral first and second spring legs extending outwardly from the endmost spring coils thereof and respectively anchored on the hinge bracket and the closure panel bracket to urge the closure panel to a normal closed position relative the hinge bracket. A detent shoulder is provided on the hinge bracket and is automatically engaged by the second spring leg anchored on the closure panel when the closure panel bracket is moved from the closed position to the open position to hold the second spring leg against return movement and thereby hold the closure panel in the open position.

  • Patent number: 4428095
Abstract: A safety device for a photocopy machine implemented by inserting a core bar rotatably into a fixed member, while the core bar rotatably supports a rotation member. A spiral spring is secured between the core bar and the rotation member, preventing the rotation of the core bar. A stopper member is placed between the core bar and the rotation member, the stopper member's position being maintained with the aid of a tension coil spring. If the spiral spring breaks, the stopper member shifts in a direction adapted to insert a projection of the stopper member into a detent on the rotation member and thereby prevent the falling of the rotation member.

  • Patent number: 4389748
Abstract: A new and novel concealed door hinge is disclosed and includes three pivot points, all of which are hidden when the door is closed. The device includes a substantially right angle interior leaf secured to the cabinet and a cup-like external leaf secured within a recess in the door. A forcing member is pivotally connected to one of the surfaces of the interior leaf and a pivoting member is pivotally connected to another surface of the internal leaf and to the external leaf. In one embodiment of the invention, when closing the door, a cam-like structure within the external leaf moves the forcing member to urge the pivoting member toward the door opening and, consequently, causes the entire hinge assembly to close. In another embodiment of the invention, the pivot point between the forcing member and the interior leaf is slidingly positioned with respect to the interior leaf. This embodiment also includes an axle which interconnects the forcing member and the pivoting member.

  • Patent number: 4377019
Abstract: A hinge device used with a rotation member having a rotational moment which varies in accordance with a rotation angle. The hinge device comprises a core bar inserted into a fixed member, a flat wire torsion spring fixed at its ends to the core bar and to the rotation members, respectively, a lever memer fixed to a portion of the core bar, and a first flat spring biasing the rotation of the core bar in a certain direction and having its ends abutting the fixed member and the rotation member. A second flat member is provided to operate against the spring torque of the flat wire torsion spring having its ends abutting the fixed member and the rotation member.

  • Patent number: 4356594
Abstract: A friction hinge arrangement for the hinged connection of a cover to a base, for example a record player base, comprises a hingeable friction member, which is mounted between the limbs of a friction member whose limbs are urged towards each other with the aid of clamping members. In order to minimize the maximum moments to be exerted when the cover is opened and closed the friction hinge arrangement is provided with a spring which biases the hinge pin and partly compensates for the force of gravity acting on the cover.
