Comprising Nested Open Curved Portions Attached To Hinged Members Patents (Class 16/355)
  • Patent number: 4554700
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner structure having an invisible hinge structure hingedly mounting a hood to the vacuum cleaner body and a lid to the hood. The body defines an arcuate guide slidably receiving an arcuate slide-track for hingedly mounting the hood to the body. A track portion of the slide-track, in turn, slidably carries an arcuate slide on the lid for hingedly mounting the lid to the slide-track and thereby hingedly mounting the lid indirectly to the body. The body guide, the hood slide-track, and the lid slide are each arcuately centered on a common axis disposed rearwardly of a rear wall defining the filter bag space of the vacuum cleaner with the common axis being disposed outside the confines of the vacuum cleaner body to facilitate interference-free opening and closing of the hood and lid. The hood slide-track and lid slide are received within the body rearwardly of the rear wall so as to define an invisible hinge mounting of the hood and lid to the body.

  • Patent number: 4522446
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reclining chair or lounge having a pivotally connected back portion. The preferred form is a molded plastic sun lounge which can recline to function as a couch or bed. The sun lounge is able to be stacked when in the fully reclined position, and has arm rests which are adjusted in attitude according to the position of the back rest so as to maintain comfortable arm support throughout all back rest positions.

  • Patent number: 4521937
Abstract: A hinge for an opening roof panel for a vehicle comprises a spade member and a socket. The spade member is secured to the one surface of the panel with an arcuate portion projecting in an arc centered on the desired hinge axis. The socket is secured to the frame and has an open-ended arcuate channel, centered on the desired hinge axis, at least one wall of the channel being formed by a wall member mounted on a resilient member which, when relaxed, causes the width of the part of the channel to be less than the thickness of the arcuate portion of the spade member. The hinge can also be used to secure a draught deflector to the front edge of the aperture in the vehicle roof when the panel has been completely removed.

  • Patent number: 4475268
Abstract: This invention is directed toward improvements in closure hinges of the type employing curved hinge sections which rotatably interconnect. A rigid link is employed at the ends of the hinge to help retain the hinge sections interconnected. Existing hinge elements are used to connect the links to the hinge. Fasteners are employed to prevent the hinge sections from moving longitudinally with respect to each other. Spacer elements are provided to prevent the fasteners from binding on the hinge sections.

  • Patent number: 4443198
Abstract: A folding board used as a backing for pamphlets, maps and graphic and printed material consists of four or more sections. Three sections are hinged together along the lengths of abutting edges; the fourth is hinged to one section along the length of an edge abutting one other section, but disconnected along the length of another such edge except by a fourth hinge. The sections are folded flat against each other along three hinges. The fourth hinge has its axis above the place of two sections to permit flat folding of all sections. Various types of hinges are disclosed. How more than four rectangular sections may be hinged together is disclosed. Illumination means for the board and compass to be used with a map on the board are shown and described. Various scales for locating the coordinates for a map may be used. One such scale is hinged; another is telescopic.

  • Patent number: 4438993
Abstract: A hinge comprising a first elongated hinge member defining an elongated socket and a second hinge member adapted to be positionable in a first angular position wherein at least a portion of the second hinge member is slidably insertable into the socket and slidably removable from the socket and a second angular position at an acute angle to the first angular position and wherein the second hinge member is restrained against removal from the socket. The first hinge member includes a supporting surface and a restraining member spaced from the supporting surface in opposed relation thereto and projecting toward the supporting surface. The restraining member includes a rodlike bearing surface facing the supporting surface, and the rodlike bearing surface and the supporting surface define the socket therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4386645
Abstract: A closure includes a plurality of vertical panels suspended from an overhead support and successively joined to one another by interlocking, alternate outer and inner pivot elements attached to the panel lateral edges. When the closure is collapsed the panels are folded about the pivot elements into a stacked, parallel diposition. Improved articulation between the panels is achieved by means of unique outer and inner pivot element components including respectively, a curved groove and a curved arm, both describing an arc of approximately 270.degree.. Female elements on the base of each pivot element cooperate with mating male elements joined to each panel lateral edge to allow ready assembly therebetween, with the panels themselves comprising either metal and/or a plastic composition.
