Abstract: A mechanism for selectively coupling a first moving part with a second moving part. The mechanism includes and engaging member that is movable between a detent position, a uncoupled position, and a coupled position in which the load transferring surface is within the aperture. A biasing member biases the engaging member into the detent position or coupled position. The engaging member overrides the biasing force and moves out of the detent position into the uncoupled position when first and second moving parts move relative to each other. When the engaging member is in the coupled position, the first and second moving parts are coupled for movement together. One embodiment of the invention is a child safety door handle rotating on a spindle. Other embodiments include water faucets, stove or burner controls, or any other rotatable or movable parts.

Abstract: A collapsible vehicle door pull handle comprising two separate pieces joined together by a break away feature. This arrangement allows the pull handle to be strong when the occupant pulls the vehicle door closed, but allows deflection because of the break away feature during a side impact event. The collapsible vehicle door pull handle comprises a handle, a base, an attachment member fitted to one of the handle and the base, and an elastic deformable portion having a keyway for receiving and holding the attachment member with the attachment portion being on the other of the base and the handle. According to this arrangement the handle and the base may be moved toward one another on deformation of the deformable portion during a side impact event. The attachment member includes a post having a pair of opposed flat surfaces and a pair of opposed curved surfaces. The keyway includes a channel which terminates into a post retaining area that is wider than said channel.

Abstract: A handle assembly or moulded to open every enclosed door with horizontal oriented axis of rotation. The handle's arm is curved as an arc of circle whose radius is the shortest distance from handle's position on enclosed door to axis of rotation of said door. The length of said arc of circle is the length of related 45 degrees to 90 degrees' arc of circle depending on handle's position: closer to axis of rotation, handle's arm length will be closer to related 90 degrees' arc of circle. These specifications will provide easier and safe opening without twisting customer effort when pushing handle to open enclosed door and space enough to throw any waste or to pick up any goods or any objects.

  • Patent number: 8201307
Abstract: A door handle assembly providing an entry function includes a sleeve, a spindle and a handle that fits over the sleeve. Gap and play between the handle and the sleeve is eliminated by tightening of a threaded fastener against an inner surface of the handle. A tool is selectively received through an opening in the spindle for tightening the threaded fastener. The opening in the spindle is alignable with an aperture in the handle when in an unlocked condition. The tool is then permitted to extend through the aperture and the opening in the spindle to engage the threaded fastener. A second end of the threaded fastener abuts the inner surface of the handle, securing the handle to the sleeve. Another door handle assembly according to this invention provides a privacy function and includes a threaded fastener that contacts an inner surface of a door handle assembly.
