  • Patent number: 7044020
Abstract: A motorcycle handlebar hand grip has a hollow cylindrical body with a first, open end and an opposing, second end, which may be open or closed, and an annular flange projecting radially outwards at the first, open end. In order to prolong its useful life as regards wear by a rider's hand, and also improve comfort and vibration damping, the body has an external surface which is formed with projections and which tapers from adjacent the flange to adjacent the second end. The taper is achieved by the projections progressively decreasing in height from adjacent the flange to adjacent the second end. The base area of the respective projections may also progressively decrease in size from adjacent the flange to adjacent the second end.

The handle includes a core member, an outer sheath disposed about the core member, and gel disposed between the core member and the outer sheath. The outer sheath is deformable, such that when a hand grips the pliable handle, the force applied causes the pliable handle to deform and conform to the shape of the hand, and the applied force causes load movement of the gel. The pliable handle has a so-called memory effect, meaning that after the grip on the handle is released, the deformation in the handle will remain for a period of time before the handle returns to its original shape.

  • Patent number: 6463629
Abstract: A coated rod-like handle, and an apparatus and method of molding a protective coat on a portion of a rod-like handle. The method includes the steps of: (1) providing a mold having at least one projection extending radially inwardly from an inside wall of the mold and so positioned and configured to support the portion of the rod-like handle placed concentrically inside the mold and to prevent the said portion of the rod-like handle from deforming laterally during an injection molding cycle; and (2) injecting a molding material under pressure through an inlet in the mold so as to form a protective coat on and about the said portion of the rod-like handle.

  • Patent number: 6447149
Abstract: The present invention provides such a surgical light handle cover with ridges. A second ridge engages the outer rim of the light handle's flange, while a first ridge and a generally conical portion create a suctional force to more securely attach the cover to the non-sterile handle. The ridges and a guard portion help to minimize the chance of accidental contamination. The surgical light handle cover of the present invention is disposable, sterilizable and obviates the need for adhesives to attach the cover to the light handle.

  • Patent number: 6434793
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for a handle. The invention is characterized in that it comprises a part (20) intended to be arranged at the end of a handle, referred to below as a holding part, that the holding part (20) comprises a part (22) intended to be gripped on use, referred to below as the gripping pant, that said holding part is provided with organs (10, 20) capable of allowing turning of the gripping part (22) around an axis of rotation (V) in relation to the handle when device is affixed to the handle end, the axis of rotation (V) coinciding in the main with the longitudinal direction (L) of the handle, and that the gripping part is provided with organs (34, 36) capable of increasing the friction between the holding pant and the hand or a surface which the handle end is placed against.

  • Patent number: 6405409
Abstract: A handle cover for fitting over a wire bail handle affixed to a carriable container which offers several advantages over prior designs. The handle is designed to fit over the wire bail, whether or not a hollow tubular sleeve through which the wire bail passes is present, and can interact with this sleeve when present. Such interaction not only allows the handle cover to be adaptable to various wire bail handles, but can also provide additional stabilization of the handle cover relative to the bail. The handle cover is formed from two body members, at least one of which has a channel formed therein for receiving the wire bail. This channel has two end portions and a central portion. The central portion is wider than the end portions, to receive a hollow tubular sleeve if present on the bail.

  • Publication number: 20010052163
Abstract: A finishing trowel comprised of a blade, a mounting and a handle, wherein the handle is hollow and has a square mounting hole for receiving a square mounting surface. A plastic handle is comprised of a durable inner core material and a grippable outer member. The handle's inner core includes deformable ribs which axially line the mounting hole and provide a secure, lash-free fit onto the mounting surface over a broader range of manufacturing tolerances for the parts. The handle also includes an endcap which cuts into and seals the endcap against an outer grippable material upon tightening of a flanged nut onto the mounting. A lip extends from the handle and encompasses a portion of the mounting to facilitate increased torque transfer from the handle to the mounting and blade. The replaceable handle can also be formed of other grippable materials such as wood.
