Drum Or Roller Wound Strand Patents (Class 160/170)
  • Patent number: 5207261
Abstract: A venetian blind includes a winding drum (5), on which is wound a cord (8) fastened to the lowermost slat (10) of the blind, and a mechanism for orienting the slats of the blind, including a flexible ladder which is driven frictionally and the bands (15, 16) of which are fastened to the slats of the blind for their orientation. The orientation device includes a slide (17) mounted elastically and displaced transversely by the cord (8) when a pulling force is exerted on the cord. The slide controls the passage of stop pieces (27, 28) fixed to the ladders and consequently the orientation of the slats of the blind.

  • Patent number: 5133399
Abstract: An improved blind unit or shade having no pull cord for raising and lowering the blind members of the blind unit. The lower rail is movable upwardly from the lowermost position thereof when an upwardly directed force is applied to cord structure coupled with the blind members and the lower rail. When the lower rail moves progressively upwardly or downwardly with reference to the head rail above the blind members, the lower rail supports a progressively greater or lesser number of blind members. A variable, upwardly directed force is applied to the cord structure with the force being substantially equivalent at all times to the combined weights of the lower rail and the blind members supported on the lower rail when the lower rail is above its lowermost operative position. The force applying means, in one embodiment includes at least one conical member coupled to a constant force spring. In another embodiment, the force applying means includes a variable force leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 5092382
Abstract: An apparatus which facilitates the raising and lowering of a pull-up band for a blind. An axially rotatable winding shaft is disposed generally parallel to the section rail by which the apparatus is attached to a wall. At least one winding roller is disposed along the winding shaft, having an axis of rotation extending generally horizontally and perpendicular to the winding shaft, and is adapted to extend and retract a pull-up band wound onto the winding roller responsive to a drive mechanism which transfers motion from the winding shaft to the winding roller. The winding roller is rotatably mounted in a holder, and the drive mechanism is housed in a housing which is detachably fastened to the section rail.

  • Patent number: 4955421
Abstract: This invention relates to a continuous cord roll up window blind. This continuous cord roll up window blind has an endless cord that engages and causes a sprocket to rotate. The sprocket in turn causes a take up spool to rotate. When the take up spool rotates, a take up cord, which is wrapped around the window covering material, either wraps around or unwraps from the take up spool, depending upon which way the take up spool is rotated. This in turn causes the take up cord to raise or lower the window covering material. A take up cord guide is positioned by the take up cord and, when the window blind is completely rolled down, limits the direction in which the endless cord can be pulled to require that the window blind be rolled up toward the interior surface of the window blind.

  • Patent number: 4522244
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bearing bracket for outer-wall Venetian blinds. The bearing bracket comprises a lifting roll (4) and a turning roll (13), these rolls being connected by a coupling (11, 19, 20) which during rotation of the lifting roll (4) in varying directions causes the turning roll (13) to be moved to various predetermined positions of adjustment for the skewing of the blind laths. The predetermined positions of adjustment corresponding to a completely open, completely closed and slightly open Venetian blind. The coupling (11, 19, 20) comprises a ratchet wheel (11) having two rows of ratchet teeth and two pawls (19, 20) for cooperation with one row each of ratchet teeth on the ratchet wheel (11). When rotating the lifting roll (4) the turning roll (13) is carried to the position corresponding to the predetermined positions of adjustment for the skewing of the blind laths.

  • Patent number: 4334572
Abstract: A venetian blind comprises a windup drum for a lifting strap firmly fitted to a drive shaft. Lateral hub portions of a drum are provided with teeth which serve as contact surfaces for two setting straps. Supporting twines for tiltable slats are suspended from the setting straps whose both ends are connected to the associated one of the other strap by connecting plates which act as stop members. Bearing brackets of the drive shaft, accommodated in a supporting housing of the blind, are provided at their bottom with guide webs, for the setting straps and the lifting strap. Stop lugs provided on a bearing bracket in the housing, cooperate on one side with the connecting plate and on the other side with an engaging member of setting strap. During lifting of the blind, the lugs limit the open position of the straps, and during lowering of the blind, they set the predetermined oblique position of the slats.

  • Patent number: 4088171
Abstract: A venetian blind wherein the slats are moved up and down by means of cords or strips in response to rotation of a shaft in clockwise and anticlockwise directions. The shaft actuates a mechanism serving to turn the slats between open and closed positions and through intermediate positions in which the slats are partly open. The mechanism is caused to automatically maintain the slats in the open positions during upward movement of slats and in the intermediate positions when the slats move downwardly. The slats can turn between the open and closed positions when the venetian blind is fully extended. Yieldable detents are provided to releasably hold the slats in the open, closed or intermediate positions.
