Abstract: A light shelf for controlling solar radiation that impinges on a building has a panel with a pair of support brackets. The brackets run along tracks secured to the building and engage the tracks to assume a variety of elevations. The brackets can be moved independently, allowing the panel to be tilted and may have pivot joints to facilitate tilting. The panel may be mounted to the brackets in a way that allows the panel to translate horizontally. The panel may have a plurality of elements that can be adjusted to change the surface area and may be automated to respond to ambient conditions.

Abstract: An overhead door with spring-loaded roller hinges that push the door against its frame or weather stripping to provide an effective weather and thermal seal when the door is closed. The spring-loaded roller hinges are readily retrofit to overhead doors with conventional roller hinges. Each hinge spaces and pivotally secures a roller hub from the base of the hinge. The roller hub is pivotally secured to an inside flange and movably held by an elongated slot in an outer flange. The roller hub supportingly receives the axel of a wheel that rollingly engages a track fixed to the vertical sides of the door frame. Each roller hinge has a spring that biases its roller hub and wheel rearwardly against the fixed track, which pushes the door panels forward and into sealing engagement with the door frame or its weather stripping.

  • Patent number: 8303056
Abstract: A cabinet door collapses and slides into a concealed position inside a door compartment of a cabinet. The door has a first wing which is pivotally connected to a second wing and to a vertical door-supporting bar which travel insides the door compartment. The second wing is guided by carriages running in upper and lower continuous guideways that extend inside the door compartment. A device for moving the door-supporting bar includes a stationary toothed belt inside the door compartment, a toothed wheel and guide pulleys carried by the door-supporting bar. The toothed wheel is operatively connected to a torsion spring inside the door-supporting bar. A locking device locks the toothed wheel, when the door wings are in a coplanar closed position, and releases the toothed wheel, when they are in a parallel open position.

Abstract: The disclosure includes a cargo vehicle. The cargo vehicle includes a cargo compartment, which in turn is defined by a floor, a plurality of adjoining walls extending upwardly from the floor, and a ceiling attached to an upper end of the plurality of adjoining walls, wherein the walls, floor and ceiling cooperate to form the cargo compartment and a first vertical opening having a width defined by first and second sides for accessing the interior of the cargo compartment. The vehicle further includes a first segmented retractable door proximate the first vertical opening of the cargo compartment. The first door is displaceable from a first vertically-oriented closed position in which the door covers the first vertical opening to a second open position in which the door is substantially disposed below the first vertical opening.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for laterally restraining a movable partition. In one embodiment, a movable partition includes two laterally spaced structures wherein each structure includes a plurality of hingedly coupled panels. A lateral restraint mechanism is located and configured to prevent lateral displacement of one or both of the two laterally spaced structures. In one embodiment, at least one bracket is substantially rigidly coupled to a hinge of the first structure and a laterally adjacent hinge of the second structure. The at least one bracket may include multiple brackets. Some described methods include laterally restraining lower edge of a movable partition as well as the installation of lateral restraint brackets including the plumbing, spacing and squaring of the structures in conjunction with such installation.

  • Patent number: 5548869
Abstract: A pivot assembly employs a pivot block to resist lateral forces and facilitate door alignment. The assembly includes a sleeve, pivot pin, pivot block and jamb bracket. The jamb bracket is connected to a corner between a jamb and a floor. The pivot block mounts on to the jamb bracket with anchors that engage serrations in a slot of the jamb bracket. The pivot block includes two halves resiliently connected at one end and separated by a gap, with a conical socket centered along the gap. A pivot pin is threaded into a sleeve mounted to the lower edge of a door to adjust height. A head on the lower end of the pin engages grooves in the pivot block socket. The pivot block halves separate to accommodate the pivot pin, and to cause the pivot block halves to be anchored in the jamb bracket. To properly align the door, the door is lifted to disengage the pivot pin from the pivot block. Vertical height is adjusted by rotating the pivot pin in the sleeve.

Abstract: A folding door, containable in a cabinet, includes a door body foldable outwardly of the cabinet. A slide member is slidable along an inner surface of the cabinet toward and away from a front of the cabinet. The door body is angularly movably connected at its proximal end portion to the slide member by a hinge. A lock member is mounted on the proximal end portion of the door body so as to be angularly movable about an axis disposed at a central portion of the lock member. The lock member has an engaging portion extending obliquely toward the inner surface of the cabinet, and a contact portion extending toward the distal end of the door body. A urging member urges the lock member to be angularly moved in a direction to abut the engaging portion against the inner surface of the cabinet. A retainer member is provided on the inner surface of the cabinet for retaining the engaging portion of the lock member.

Abstract: A partition, more particularly for a corner-shower, with a rounded entrance area, contains door-elements by means of which the entrance-area may be closed off or opened. The door-elements are arranged displaceably in guide-rails which are curved in the entrance area and are connected to at least one wall-element. It should be possible to produce a partition of this kind inexpensively and to obtain reliable guidance and accurate alignment of the door-elements with as few components as possible. The door-elements are curved to match the guide-rails and the guide-elements of each door-element is arranged at a predetermined distance from the longitudinal edges. A total of two door-elements is provided and these are curved over an angular range of approximately 45.degree.. They are adjustable in height by means of at least one guide-element, more particularly an eccentric pin.
