  • Patent number: 8827332
Abstract: A self-engaging emergency egress lock assembly mounted to a door track is described. As a door lock strike element contacts a lock strike assembly contained within the door lock assembly, the strike assembly hinges over the door lock strike element. When the door reaches a predetermined down limit power is applied to activate an actuator. Upon activation, the actuator engages a lock strike stop which prevent the strike assembly from disengaging the door lock strike element. If the door is attempted to be opened while the lock strike stop is engaged, the lock strike assembly pushes against the stop, preventing the door from traveling upward. In an emergency egress (alarm) condition, power to the actuator is terminated, thereby releasing the lock strike stop and by extension, the strike assembly, thus disengaging the door lock strike element, thereby providing emergency egress capability.

Abstract: A trackless roll-up door covering to contain materials within, and prevent animals from entering, a building or enclosure having a large door opening. In one embodiment of the invention an open weave vinyl coated polyester moisture resistant quick drying fabric material is fixedly weighted at a first end and fixedly attached to a tubular assembly at a second end. The tubular assembly is rotated by rotatable drive means, such as a motor, hand crank, spring loaded mechanism, which extends the fabric when operated in a first direction and retracts the fabric when operated in a second direction. Strapping means are used to secure the fabric material when it is extended to loosely close cover the door opening. Additional strapping means are optionally used to further secure the fabric material and prevent bowing in the center of the extended material.

Abstract: A stowable partition assembly for a truck cab provides privacy for an interior sleeping area mounted aft of the operator space. The assembly has an overhead track depending from the cab ceiling, oriented to define a border between the forward operator area and the aft interior sleeping area. A pair of curtains are hung from their upper edges from the overhead track and are positionable on the track to divide the aft living space from the forward operator space when extended. A pair of stowage compartments are located at each end of the track along the interior sides of the truck cab to receive the curtain when retracted. Retraction of the curtains is provided by roll up retractors disposed in each stowage compartment. The curtains are each attached along one of two vertical edges to the roll up retractor to be wound thereon. Abstract: A protective cover assembly used to cover and protect windows, doors or other wall openings for homes, office buildings, hotels, and other walled structures from the destructive forces of a high windstorm, such as a hurricane. The current form of the preferred embodiment consists of a high strength fabric covering an opening, such as a window and being supported by brackets, a rod and a bar. Once installed, the high strength fabric is stretched over the opening, through the use of a gears and ratchet assembly. The high strength fabric once stretched will provide protection from high winds and wind borne debris common in storms such as hurricanes. The protective cover assembly also prevents unlawful entries or break-ins of buildings. The high strength fabric is securely supported to the rod and steel bar that are firmly attached to the wall structure near the wall opening.

Abstract: A system for removably attaching a tonneau cover over the bed of a pickup truck or similar vehicle. The system includes front, rear, and side rails. The front and two side rails are respectively secured in fixed positions atop the front and side walls of the bed. The rear rail is then suspended to extend between the two side rails across the mouth of the tailgate opening. The ends of the rear rail are inserted into longitudinally extending channels in the side rails and can be slid relative to the fixed, front and side rails. The system also can include one or more support bows that can be inserted into the channels in the fixed, side rails and slid relative to them to spaced positions intermediate the front and rear rails. With the slidable, rear rail, the cover can be selectively tensioned or loosen to ease putting the cover over the bed and taking it off. The tailgate and rear rail sealingly engage each other when the tailgate is closed to make the system substantially watertight.
