  • Publication number: 20140251557
Abstract: A retractable cord queue barrier system uses a spring-biased pulley refraction mechanism acting on a stretchable cord. A constant-force coiled metal spring is used, such that the retraction force on the cord does not increase as the cord is extended—as it would for a helical spring governed by Hooke's Law. The use of a constant-force spring avoids abrupt snap-back of the extended cord when released, as well as the need for excessive pulling force on the cord as it approaches full extension, which tends to cause the stanchion to tip over. Dynamic balance between the contractive force of the stretchable cord and the retractive force of the constant-force spring achieves a taut but not unyielding tension in the interconnecting cords between stanchions.

  • Patent number: 8302655
Abstract: A spring drive device is for use with a sunshade assembly which includes a coupling shaft coaxial to and rotatable with a winding shaft and formed with a guided path. The spring drive device includes a spring member disposed in and connected to a shell unit. A connecting shaft is formed with a guideway which has an initial region engaged with the spring member, such that when the connecting shaft is moved along a coupling route, the guideway is kept in slidable engagement with the spring member until a relay region of the guideway reaches the spring member. The connecting shaft is engageable with the coupling shaft to align the guided path with the guideway such that when the movement of the connecting shaft is continued after the relay region reaches the spring member, the guided path is brought to take over the slidable engagement with the spring member.

  • Publication number: 20110240236
Abstract: A ratchet system for winding a rolling door assembly. The ratchet system includes a support bracket, a cam, and a biasing device. The support bracket is preferably mounted onto a fixed structure of the rolling door assembly. The cam is pivotally mounted about the support bracket and positioned adjacent to a portion of an overhead shaft of the assembly. The cam is shaped and sized to cooperate with this portion of the overhead shaft between a first position, where the cam allows rotation of the overhead shaft along a first direction, and a second position, where the cam has a surface engaged with the overhead shaft and where further rotation of the overhead shaft along a second direction, opposite to the first direction, is blocked by the cam. The biasing device is used for urging the surface of the cam onto the overhead shaft. The ratchet system is particularly useful for adjustably controlling the rotation of the overhead shaft of the rolling door assembly during the winding thereof.

  • Patent number: 7581775
Abstract: A roller blind for a side window of a motor vehicle. The roller blind has a winding shaft, which is coupled via an articulated or flexible coupling mechanism to a spring drive situated outside the winding shaft. The winding shaft and the spring drive are accommodated inside a vertical window frame segment of a motor vehicle's window. The articulated or flexible coupling between the winding shaft and the spring drive makes it possible to approximate a curved path by means of two normally straight elements of the blind. Furthermore, a very flat characteristic tension curve can be achieved for the spring drive, even when the winding shaft is very short.
