  • Patent number: 5676189
Abstract: The present invention is a motorized drapery track assembly specially adapted for use in traversing very sharp corners without derailment. The system employs a motorized carrier that is mounted upon a track and a plurality of trolleys to which a drapery is mounted. The carrier is interconnected to at least one trolley and pulls or pushes the drapery along the track. The carrier includes at least one guide wheel and a drive wheel, which are relatively moveable with respect to each other to allow for movement at sharp corners to prevent derailment of the carrier. The track itself is specifically adapted so that it can be easily bent and installed. Special brackets are employed so that the track can be installed in areas with restricted space.

Abstract: A poultry house having ventilation windows with curtains movable vertically relative to the windows to open the windows incrementally has a control cable associated with each curtain for pulling the curtain upwardly by curtain cords connecting the control cable to the curtain to close the ventilation through the window or to release the pull on the curtain to permit the curtain to drop incrementally and open the window. Each control cable is trained about a control pulley mounted on a power driven rod and is connected at one end to a manually rotatable winch. Other pulleys guide the cable to the control pulley and from the control pulley to the winch. In normal power operation the power driven rod pulls or releases the cable by retraction or extension, but in the event of a power failure the manually operable winch may be utilized to raise and lower the curtains.

  • Patent number: 4995442
Abstract: A device for opening and closing a closure member, typically a curtain in which a cord is associated with the closure member and has a bight portion located in the first plane and a pair of substantially parallel, spaced first and second reaches located in a second plane spaced from the first plane. The device comprises a drive roller for driving engagement with the bight portion, a reversible electric motor for driving the drive roller, the diameter of the drive roller being larger than the spacing between the parallel reaches. First and second pulleys are provided between the reaches and the bight to allow a change in direction of the cord between the reaches and the bight, the first pulley being rotatable about an axis which is skewed relative to the first and second planes. Thus, the reaches pass around the respective pulleys and when the reaches leave the pulleys the spacing between the reaches is substantially similar to the diameter of the drive roller.

In many instances it is no longer necessary to provide a fence tight closure as was previously considered necessary to confine small animals such as chickens, pigs etc. As the cost of erecting and maintaining fence tight types of gates has increased during recent years many people have realized that all that is required is a barrier to indicate the extent of individual property holdings. I have devised a versitile type of barrier that can be manufactured economically, and can be maintained in service at low costs.
