Abstract: A process arrangement in the short circulation of a paper machine comprises devices (10-13) for dilution of thick stock, centrifugal cleaners (14), and a headbox fan pump (16), as well as a pipe system connecting these. There is a direct flow connection from the centrifugal cleaners (14) along a pipeline (30) to the headbox fan pump (16), through which pipeline (30) a centrifugally cleaned stock flow (F6) is passed direct to the headbox fan pump (16) without any deaeration or dilution stages in between. A secondary line (32) is connected to the pipeline (30) for passing through it part of the centrifugally cleaned stock flow as a return flow (F7) back to the thick stock dilution devices (10-13). By this arrangement it can be ensured that the pressure on the suction side of the fan pump (16) remains substantially constant.

Abstract: A means for splash separation at a dandy roll on a fourudrinier machine is disclosed. The means comprises a doctor blade and a cover in order to separate and divert water further from the dandy roll. A rotating roll is positioned for collecting the separated water from the dandy roll. An additional doctor blade is used for wiping off the water from the rotating roll and for diverting it into a tub. The water leaves the tub at one or both short sides, which are open. In order to divert the water towards the respective short end, the tub is positioned or shaped inclined towards one or both short ends.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of and an apparatus for controlling the operation of the short circulation of a paper, paper board or the like production machine. The method and apparatus according to the invention are especially preferably suitable for use in the approach system, i.e. so-called short circulation, of said production machines for regulating the headbox feed pressure. A characteristic feature of the method and apparatus according to the invention is that at a suitable location in the approach system of said production machine there is arranged a controllable parallel flow, by means of which at least one flow in the approach system is regulated so that the pressure in the headbox remains essentially constant.

Abstract: A non-woven web of fibrous material is produced using a moving foraminous element in the practice of the foam process. A first foam slurry of air, water, fibers and a surfactant is generated and centrifugally pumped into contact with the moving foraminous element. Substantially fiber-free foam is withdrawn from the foraminous element while forming a non-woven web of fibrous material on the foraminous element, and at least a part of the substantially fiber-free foam is used in the generation of the first foam slurry. Recycling is also typically practiced using a centrifugal pump, and the centrifugal pumps are preferably degassing pumps which remove some of the gas from the foam. By practicing the invention it is possible to produce fibrous webs using the foam process that are more than two meters wide, and at a forming speed of more than about 100 m/min (e.g. about 200-500 m/min).

The receiving tank includes a first chamber that receives arriving water and is under ambient pressure, and a second chamber that is connected to the first chamber and is under vacuum, into which the water collecting in the first chamber is aspirated and from which the water is eventually drained. A water receiving device of improved efficiency is also provided by forming a water receiving device by at least one suction channel projecting into the wedge-shaped area between the upper press roll and the dewatering belt, and extending transverse to the pulp web, which suction channel is connected to a source of reduced pressure.
