  • Patent number: 8048269
Abstract: A forming section has a lower wire loop (11), which constitutes a single-wire section (T) following a breast roll (12). A first dewatering zone (Z1) has at least one stationary, first forming shoe (40) followed by a pulsating strip cover (50). The first forming shoe has leading and trailing edges and underpressure affecting through holes of the cover. The holes are openings or slots substantially in the longitudinal direction of the machine, whereby non-pulsating dewatering is applied on the stock travelling on top of the lower wire. A pulp suspension jet is fed from a headbox (30) at an impact point after the shoe leading edge. The cover is straight at least in the area between the impact point of the pulp suspension jet and the trailing edge. The impact of the pulp suspension jet on the forming wire is thus better controlled in a better way, increasing production speed.

Abstract: In a paper or board machine, the cross-direction profile of a flow channel defined between a first dewatering element (52, 53) situated inside a first forming wire loop (50) and a second dewatering element (64, 65) situated inside a second forming wire loop (60) is measured, and the location and/or the position of the blade element (64, 65) is adjusted based on the measurement result in order to regulate the thickness profile of a stock flow. The measurement can be by passing an alternating current of low frequency to a current rail situated in the second dewatering element (64, 65) and by measuring the strength of the magnetic field created by it by at least two measuring devices which have been placed either in the first dewatering element (53) or, when the first dewatering element is a forming roll (52), in the same dewatering element (64) as the current rail.

Abstract: A pulp former's sealing blades extend between the headbox slice and twin forming wires and are bonded and/or pinned to blade supports which mount the blades to the slice. The blade supports have flat mounting surfaces which extend in the machine and cross machine directions and which overlie or underlie the blades supports. The blades may be affixed to the supports with an adhesive film. The supports are in turn mounted to the upper and lower sides of a pulp former headbox slice. After the adhesive bond is formed, holes are drilled through the flexible blades and into the blade supports. The holes are filled with pins which are mounted flush to the pulp side surfaces of the flexible blades. The holes through the flexible blades may be tapered, and the corresponding tapered portions of the pins may be used to clamp the flexible blades to the blade supports.

Abstract: A paper forming device of a paper machine enables a change-over between a thin paper high velocity forming and a thick paper forming. In the paper forming device, stock liquor S is discharged from a headbox 1 onto a wire 2 and, while being transferred on the wire 2, is dewatered by a dewatering equipment and further by a suction box 6. A forming roll 13, wound with an extended felt 7, is arranged movably up and down above the wire 2 near the headbox 1. When a thin paper is to be formed, the forming roll 13 is moved down so that a nip of the stock liquor is formed between the wire 2 and the felt 7. Thereby, the stock liquor S discharged from the headbox 1, can be comparatively immediately nipped between the wire 2 and the felt 7.

One or both of the forming surfaces include lower permeability areas that create lower basis weight areas in the web. The lower permeability areas are contained in the forming surface according to a particular pattern.
