  • Patent number: 8216506
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention includes: a step of setting a piece of a plant containing moisture inside a pressurizing apparatus and hermetically closing the internal space of the pressurizing apparatus; a step of applying a heat and a pressure to the piece of the plant; and a step of (i) enabling ventilation between the inside of the pressurizing apparatus and outside thereof after the piece of the plant reaches a predetermined molding temperature, (ii) retaining the pressure and the temperature for a predetermined period, (iii) cooling a molded article, and (iv) taking out the molded article from the pressurizing apparatus. This realizes a method for processing a plant which method makes it possible to mold a piece of a plant into a desired shape without reducing the piece of the plant into powder and without using an adhesive.

  • Patent number: 7074302
Abstract: A fibrous panel is molded in two or more progressively formed mold members each comprising a porous support plate to which a plurality of rigid mold pieces are affixed. The mold pieces are truncated 3D tapered structures, and are arranged on the support plate in a regular array so that an intersecting grid or lattice of channels is defined between them. A fiber stock is poured into a first mold member and the stock is compressed and dewatered to form a panel. The panel is removed from the first mold member and placed into a second mold member having narrower and shallower channels whose side walls are more upright than those of the first mold member. The panel is further compressed and dewatered in the second mold member, and is densified in both the vertical and lateral directions by virtue of the progressive formation of the mold members.

  • Patent number: 6514381
Abstract: Methods and corresponding devices are set forth for the continuous mechanical dewatering of aqueous suspensions or elutriations, particularly of waste-paper suspensions or slurries, between an endless mesh band and an endless compression surface having a closed, smooth surface and running in the direction of operation. The suspension cake to be dewatered is compressed between the mesh band and the compression surface. The requisite pressure is achieved by wrapping the mesh band around the cylindrical compression surface under longitudinal tension, whereby the expelled water is removed from the suspension cake by means of the mesh band. Devices are provided which both increase the operational duration of the dewatering pressure of the existing mesh band on the suspension cake, and at the same time increase the pressure substantially, without obstructing the runoff of the pressed-out water. The method of the invention increases the compression pressure from about 1 bar (heretofore) to a pressure of, e.g.

Abstract: The distributor device is for cellulose pulp of low and medium consistency and is used to form a uniform pulp web running from the distributor device in an apparatus treating the cellulose pulp. The distributor device has a cylindrical distributor housing arranged horizontally and transverse to the pulp web, and an inlet for the cellulose pulp at one end of the distributor housing and on the pulp web side. Pulp is fed with feed screws from the inlet and along the length of the distributor housing. The web is initially formed via the outlets defined along a generatrix in the jacket surface of the distributor housing. An optimum distribution of low-concentration pulp is obtained with the holes arranged along the generatrix in the jacket surface of the distributor housing. The holes have a defined hole diameter (D) and are arranged at a distance (X) from each other. The interaction with the feed screw makes it possible to keep the holes free from clogging.

  • Patent number: 5064504
Abstract: A method and pulp press for recycling wood fiber products, and particularly newspaper-type pulp, into a new and useful molded product is disclosed. A quantity of paper to be recycled is mixed with sufficient water to form a viscous pulp or slurry by beating the pulp to a desired consistency for a given texture of the product to be made. The pulp press employed has a molding chamber with interior sidewalls comprised of a rigid screen through which water can pass and a rigid plate outboard from the screen. The rigid plate has channels formed therein facing the screen through which channels water can flow. One of the sidewalls is movable into the molding chamber to serve as a piston. Some means to drive the movable sidewall, such as an hydraulic jack, completes the press. The beaten pulp is poured into the molding chamber. The chamber is then closed, and the press operated by moving the movable sidewall into the chamber to compress the beaten pulp to a desired pressure and pulp density.
