Abstract: The pulp mold of the invention comprises a plurality of successive pulp mold units. Each unit comprises a plurality of higher and lower surfaces such that the pulp mold has a plurality of corrugated surfaces to provide a plurality of cushions and to simulate the deformation and spring recovery effect for performing positioning and cushioning. The pulp mold of the invention can adjust the number of pulp mold unit according to the weight and size of the article. The molding unit means of the invention can be constructed to be suitable for various articles. When the articles are no longer manufactured, the molding unit means can be re-constructed to be suitably used on other products.
Abstract: The mutually associated moulding tools, such as a suction mould and an associated pressing-and-depositing mould, neither of which are shown, comprise a baseplate (1) with a modularly divided, rectangular area (2) provided with perforations (3), on which area (2) it is possible to secure, e.g. by means of screws, a number of closely adjacent modular mould parts (A,B) with a rectangular outline, each of the modular mould parts (A,B) serving to produce an article (C,D,E) to be separated from the pulp-material shell having been produced in a subsequent operation. With this arrangement, it is possible to keep the cost of manufacturing the moulding tools and the time required for re-arranging them at such low levels, that even small series of articles (C,D,E) may be manufactured profitably.
Abstract: In a filter manufacturing method, during a time period from the start of the suction of the slurry to a point in time when fibers in the slurry accumulate on the outer peripheral surface of the protector to a prescribed thickness, the protector and its leg portions are held spaced away from each other. The leg portions are moved toward the protector so that the leg portions are disposed at a position spaced by a uniform distance from the outer peripheral surface of the protector and the suction operation is continued. Thus, the slurry containing the fibers therein can be easily caused to flow deeply into recess portions of a fin-like portion with no fiber being caught between the protector and the leg portions, thus reducing non-walled portions.
Abstract: An apparatus for making fiber reinforced preforms using a wet slurry process wherein the flow of liquid through portions of a screen having a predetermined configuration is selectively controlled. The selective control of the flow of liquid through the portions of the screens regulating the quantity of fibers deposited on the selected portions of the screen thereby controlling the thickness of the fiber preform at the selected portions of the screen.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a molded paper pulp article from a fiber slurry involves the vacuum deposition of a layer of wet paper pulp onto a forming mold, the separation of the wet layer of paper pulp from the forming mold and the pressing and shaping of the layer of wet paper pulp at a solids content of from about 5 to 20 percent solids. A finished product molded paper article is prepared having improved surface appearance and detailing and improved mechanical and physical properties.
