Removing Article From Forming Surface Patents (Class 164/131)
  • Patent number: 11241834
Abstract: A system for removing residual powder from a three-dimensional (3D)-printed component integrally constructed with a build plate during an additive manufacturing (AM) process includes an end-effector, an enclosure, one or more transducers, and an electronic control unit (ECU). The end-effector includes a base surrounded by a perimeter flange, and includes a through-opening that receives the build plate. A perimeter clamp attaches and seal the enclosure to a perimeter flange of the end-effector such that the enclosure, the base, and the build plate collectively form a powder containment cavity. The transducers vibrate at a predetermined frequency or range thereof. The ECU transmits a vibration control signal to the transducers during a post-processing stage of the AM process to loosen and remove the residual powder from the component and collect the loosened powder within the powder containment cavity.

Abstract: A bowl liner for use in a crusher that is comprised of a support cassette and a plurality of bowl liner sections mounted to the support cassette. Each of the bowl liner sections is mounted along an inner surface of the support cassette. Once the bowl liner sections are positioned along the inner surface of the support cassette, a plurality of support plates are used to support the bowl liner sections on the support cassette. An epoxy material can be utilized to further attach the plurality of bowl liner sections to the support cassette such that the bowl liner sections are held securely in place during use. The bowl liner can be replaced in the crusher as a single unit. After use, the bowl liner sections can be removed from the support cassette and the support cassette can be reused with another set of bowl liner sections.

Abstract: A wheel hub, for use on off-highway vehicles, includes a first flange defining a wheel axis and a second flange spaced apart from the first flange along the wheel axis. The first flange includes a generally annular attachment face generally orthogonal to the wheel axis, while the second flange includes an axially inward side confronting the attachment face. The wheel hub also includes a plurality of rungs extending from the first flange to the second flange. Torque is transferred between the first flange and the second flange via the plurality of rungs. Additionally, the wheel hub includes a lubricant retention structure associated with at least one of the first flange and the second flange at a radially inward surface thereof.

Abstract: The present invention includes systems and methods for insert-molding. In some embodiments, a hook can be formed in a metal part by passing die-steel of a die-cast mold through the metal part during a die-casting process. This may, however, result in a hole in the metal part that is beneath the hook area. When plastic material is insert-molded over the metal part, the plastic material may flow through the hole and into the metal part. Accordingly, in some embodiments the plastic material can be prevented from flowing through the hole during the insert-molding. As one example, a tape material can be coupled over the hole. As another example, a wedge can be press-fit into the hole. As yet another example, a plug can be inserted into the hole.

Abstract: An apparatus for core gas removal in a low-pressure cylinder head die casting operation includes an upper die, a lower die, an ejector plate disposed above the upper die to eject a part that has been cast, a plurality of tight plugs fastened into cavities formed in the upper die, and a plurality of clean pins attached to the ejector plate, each clean pin corresponding to a location of one of the tight plugs. The clean pins and the tight plugs have matching geometries. The ejector plate lowers to eject a casted cylinder head from the upper die such that a portion of the clean pins extend axially into the tight plugs to clean core gas residue formed on inner walls of the tight plugs during the casting cycle.

Abstract: A method and a device for casting a cast part from a metal melt. A casting mould in a pivoted mounting comprising a mould cavity shaping the cast part, a feed system and a pour channel, is rotated into a fill position and filled with metal melt. Due to the effect of gravity, the melt flows through the pour channel, wherein the main flow direction of the melt makes an angle relative to the acting direction of gravity. Filling is continued until the casting mould, including the pour channel, is completely filled. Then, the casting mould is sealed with a stopper and rotated into a solidification position, in which the melt in the feed system is pushed against the melt in the mould cavity. The casting mould is held in the solidification position until the metal melt has reached a solidification state in which the cast part can be de-moulded.
